Adieu Patrick. Just saw the sad news. What a wonderfully distinguished and urbane presence you were. You brought gravitas to everything you were in. Sinead would be very sad tonight, she adored you. Happier days us both watching Star Trek and X-Men. RIP
The big one at the Pairc - The Barrs vs Glen Rovers - the nostalgic 80s final. I am a blow in Northsider for 20 years but as in what seems sometimes like a past life my formative years were in the heart of Barrs country at the time of my hurling hero JBM - it is the Barrs for me.
To the mesmerising Queen tribute band Qween at the Opera House as a J.C. celebration night. Wonderful rendition of Under Pressure ( here is looking at you Sinead my love) & a beautiful Bohemian Rhapsody. Brian Keville's tribute to Freddie is remarkable.
Thank you Joe Jackson for a great gig in Cork last night, some fine songs from the new album and plenty of memories. The torch has passed as my 16 year old put you on her playlist this morning- she really enjoyed the gig & how you dealt with the power blow out.
Jesus.... the nerves ..... It was like all those years ago Sinead and me on the edge of our seats as she fought for Olympic gold. Well done Katie.
Christ, Dolly yesterday & Tim Curry today - two fearless artists, humans who smashed cultural & psychological barriers, who by their choices un-othered.
And in the end,
the love you take
is equal to the love you make.
Rest well Tim.
Rest well Dolly - know that you made a positive difference through your way of thinking, doing and being.
Thanks to Cork star Emma Murphy who thrilled everyone at the Brian Dillons Cul Camp today showing off the O Duffy Cup. Here she is with my daughter Ellie Mai - star struck - Corcaigh Abu
Rest well Brenda - what humanity you projected - brutally honest as to the human condition. Your conversation with BOC had me transfixed - I had not intended to listen but I could not turn it off, you spoke with eloquence not sugar coating the pain as well as joy of existence.
Jim Morrison said goodbye 55 years ago. A difficult man, much to dislike but with a poetic soul. I visited his grave 35 years ago. Little did I know that his poem would be embedded on me for Sinead, his words speaking to my unspoken feeling . Goodnight my love & Lizard King
