Puerto Rican solidarity movements with Cuba have delivered a new shipment of medicines for cancer patients on the island. The aid, organized by @hatueyproject, represents a direct challenge to the US blockade that is depriving Cuban cancer patients of timely treatment.
BT's @ldejesusreyes has the story.
While the US continues trying to starve Cuba into submission, The Hatuey Project continues to deliver medicine to help Cuban doctors save the lives of Cuban children with cancer. Our latest delivery just took place. Please support our efforts at HatueyProject.org/donate.

🇨🇺 “Cuba is not a threat. The blockade is.”
This weekend, hundreds of peace activists, progressive leaders, and artists filled the Schomburg Center in Harlem for Voices for Peace: Cuba Is Not A Threat.
We stood with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and a powerful lineup of speakers—including Rosemari Mealy (former Black Panther Party member), Rachel Domond (ANSWER Coalition), Dailyn Briñas (Cubans4Cuba), and NYC Council Member Alexa Avilés—to demand an end to the U.S. blockade and the unending threats against Cuban sovereignty .
The message was clear that the blockade is a silent war and a slow genocide designed by the U.S. government. It is collective punishment.

The intensified U.S. blockade of Cuba has caused the infant mortality rate in Cuba to rise from 4.2/1000 to 9.9. In other words, the blockade is killing Cuban infants. As one U.S. lawmaker put it, “It’s not just immoral, it’s evil.”

The U.S. blockade doesn't just impact "the Cuban economy" in some abstract way, it impacts individual lives. We just delivered a solar energy system for a young child whose health condition is seriously impacted by the US oil blockade.

Defying the US blockade, activists with @HatueyProject delivered critical supplies — including bed pads, Tylenol, and toothpaste — to the San José Senior Resident Home in Havana, Cuba.
The scarcity crisis in Cuba has only been exacerbated by Trump's fuel blockade. Not even the most vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, are immune to its impacts.

66 years ago today a memo was written which launched the genocidal blockade of Cuba which continues, intensified, to this day. It was designed “to weaken the economic life of Cuba” & thus “to bring about hunger, desperation and overthrow of government.” #AbajoElBloqueo!
