i love writing. i never let agents write for me. whether it's docs, or tweets, or shitposts, or even prompts (okay maybe that one's harder as agents manage other agents) there's a simple reason for that: i still strongly believe that writing is thinking. it's a skill i hope to never give up. it's also important to me that whatever i say is always authentic, mistakes and all. my favorite posts are the ones that i just full send without any editing i suspect it also helps with prompting. being able to clearly express what i want, and knowing the vocabulary i need to be able to direct my agents does seem to make for more effective usage of agents. in the same way that engineers have an advantage when we prompt agents to write code, because we are intimately familiar with the words that make up the discipline knowing the right word incantations to get an agent to produce a desired goal almost feels like spellcasting. as models get more capable, and that input box looks more and more like a magic box that can output anything, words become the interface between you and the genie there may come a time when we give up the keyboard in exchange for brain-computer interfaces. but until then, i'm writing every word.

i personally like understated and minimalist, retro print, "industrial / american dynamism", my engineer friends reading my blog enjoy simplicity my product's brand is orange and friendly, 3D buttons, spring animations, because we researched what fits and the users liked it

are orgs really hiring based on "visual culture fit"? a bunch of folks at Vercel and Linear have rainbowy cutesy portfolios

bro it's fine to keep them open, we're good shows people like Bend and want it to succeed, and you're good to curate it and shepherd it on your own pace

great release, as usual took me straight back to 2017, sitting in @explainevrythng’s donut-shaped office, reading Objective-C code to figure out how to make the web client behave like the mobile app

Depth-aware light injection in TypeGPU I got a 448x448 monocular depth model down to ~8 ms on my M4 Pro across ~250 dispatches, which is fast enough to use in realtime :D Since the inference is written directly in TypeGPU, I can just feed the depth buffer straight into the lighting pass. It never has to leave the GPU or go through any extra synchronization/interop step Inference, lighting and draw all go through the same command encoder.
