This happened right on my doorstep, a really sad day in the news industry both in LA and around the world. Thoughts and prayers with Eliana Moreno and George Marciniw’s family, friends and colleagues, as well as Edy Gutierrez Mejia who also lost their life last night.

Thoughts once AGAIN with my former and extremely talented colleagues. When will the cuts stop?? To literally never feel job security is the worst feeling, and I don’t need to imagine how frustrating this constant cycle of redundancies is for the bunch still there.

It’s 7pm in LA and nearly 90 degrees because y’all wanted to see what you’d look like in the 1980s

I think I might be the only person living in Los Angeles re-watching old episodes of Tracey Beaker on YouTube

Why are people who were alive and kicking in the ‘80s posting an AI picture of what they’d look like in the ‘80s?

Hey @BestBuy pls can you let me know how to make a formal complaint about one of the rudest, most incompetent store managers I’ve ever had the displeasure of encountering at one of your stores. Thanks x

I’ve got some good friends who work at Reach. They described how good journalism was no longer valued. Everything became about clicks clicks clicks. They were forced to churn out more and more clickbait headlines - the positive aspects of journalism such as going places to meet people, doing interviews, breaking important scandals - were thrown out the window because they had to write so many stories per day. Churnalism factories. At the same time they have faced round after round after round of redundancies and the company started to replace them with AI. Meanwhile the bosses kept taking five or even six figure salaries while presiding over a culture of destroying their brands. Now that AI has started eating them: people no longer click when they can get the answer to their question even more easily, without having to face a barrage of pop up adverts and click throughs. Journalism is struggling to find ways forward in this new age of AI - but at the same time, good journalism has never been more important. If you value good journalism, please remember to pay for it.
Reach share price plunges after they report traffic down 55% - leading to big falls in revenue and profit. The scale-based business model that they literally named themselves after is collapsing. Via @pressgazette.

So people have queued at Westfield White City, London for the new AP Swatch only for the store to cancel the launch after police were called. Seems like poor planning for an extremely hyped release (📸 u/Fearless-Schedule713)

Just finished Should I Marry A Murderer on Netflix… did we ever get to the bottom of Sandy picking someone off Tinder who works with dead bodies?? I feel like we moved past that point rather quickly… #ShouldIMarryAMurderer
