my reaction went two ways simultaneously: 1) what even is this timeline we’re in 2) creating something that somehow manages to be *worse* than Teams is, itself, a hell of an impressive achievement
The European Commission has rolled out an alternative to Microsoft Teams. But officials using it aren't impressed, with one describing the tool as “absolute shit.” vist.ly/5kje9

Used to vehemently disagree with this - and now I understand I was completely wrong. Intellect is great for building progress at an accelerated rate, but you have to internalise your work deeply enough that you can then react with instinct, which is much, much faster.

out of curiosity, I've been trying this with GPT-5.5 - not even the Pro version, just Thinking. it's consistently either one-shotting them or getting it on the 2nd try, & it's thinking for less than 10 seconds on average bad news for the "it's just a stochastic parrot" crowd
Today I discovered this game called "Doctordle" where you are presented with a series of symptoms and have to guess the condition

fun use of Codex: taking old books that were never translated to English ("Todas as cartas", by Clarice Lispector) and: - spinning up 6 sub-agents to translate the entire thing start to finish - performing QA checks on translation quality - generate cover art - compile into epub

then running more automated checks to identify and fix any formatting / layout issues at which point, Bob is your mother's brother

kind of blows my mind that, in the past, you'd have needed an entire publishing arm to commit months of work and tons of money to do this, and now you can invoke a single Codex skill, walk away, and come back 20 minutes later to a finished and polished book insanity

I wish every airline would do this. And by every airline, I mean every company and the owner of every public and private space on earth.

from my 8 year old niece: "did you know it was Rick Astley's birthday the other day?" me: "... how did you know that?" her: "I heard it on the radio" the kids are alright 😅

Claude, when reviewing something written by Codex: "It's doing the GPT thing where it mostly agrees with you and repackages what was already said, but there are a couple of useful points in there..."

It's going to be tough for startups when all the Lord of the Rings names are taken and the only thing left is something like Bombadil AI.
