I wish to yet again point out that the South Koreans manage to build a nuclear power plant every FIVE years at 20% of the cost of Hinkley C.
Nuclear power is cheap, WE alone make it expensive
We pay more than £200 million to this organisation to make our lives worse.
They have blocked homes, kite festivals, put millions onto the cost of our infrastructure, and found loopholes in laws to block new homes & make life even harder for young people.
We are talking about "Natural" England.
They are completely unelected and completely unaccountable
We’ve prepared some of their most rational moments for you to enjoy.
1️⃣ Made Hinkley Point C even more expensive by forcing a £700 MILLION "fish disco". This will save... one salmon... every decade.
➡️ If we don't have secure energy, Britain is at risk of blackouts.
2️⃣ Blocked a kite festival for charity because some grass might need to be mowed. The event had to be shut down after more than 30 years.
➡️ The only other government organisation to ban kite flying… The Taliban.
3️⃣ Shut down a paintballing centre because of "ground compaction". In other words, people walked on the land.
➡️ This was so despicable that Natural England deemed it acceptable to take this family-run business to court. The owners have spent more than £50,000 on their legal defence.
4️⃣ Designated part of the M25 as an "area of outstanding natural beauty".
➡️ Natural England has the power to designate land as an area of outstanding natural beauty. They’ve chosen the M25. Maybe the yellow emergency area looks stunning in summer.
5️⃣ Found loopholes to laws passed by our democratically elected government.
➡️ New planning rules mean that houses within 500 metres of a train station are more likely to be approved. So Natural England is designating areas just outside train stations as of "outstanding" natural beauty. No homes can be built here.
6️⃣ Blocked 27,000 jobs at a London theme park to protect… spiders.
➡️ Plans included what would have been the largest indoor water park in Europe.
We could continue.
Natural England is a very odd organisation, but one thing is clear. We do not need to deal with this. The Government can and must ABOLISH them. It has gone on for too long.
NO more Natural England.
Now, we need your help. Write to your local MP and tell them to ABOLISH NATURAL ENGLAND ⬇️

NO ONE has paid their dues, half the welfare budget goes to pensioners who’ve statistically taken out almost double what they’ve put in.

Lots of people are saying 'but we have a really low state pension'. But that's hugely misleading. In UK (like Switzerland/Netherlands) we have longstanding workplace saving schemes - see this chart from OECD, showing where pensioners' income comes from. (1/?)

Pensioners have the lowest poverty rate in the entire United Kingdom.
I strongly oppose the removal of the pensions triple-lock.
More than 2 million pensioners live in poverty. They will be the ones who suffer the most by taking away pension security.
We must protect the principle of universalism. That is why we opposed cuts to winter fuel - and that is why we must oppose any means-testing of the state pension.
This isn't about old versus young. This is about the super-rich versus the rest. That's why we should be taxing wealth to fund social care for all.

🚨 Binning the triple lock is not electoral suicide. It’s electoral survival!
And economic survival on top.

Infrastructure is 65% more expensive in the UK than France and Germany.
That’s £8.3 BILLION a year WASTED.
Not on tunnels or track.
On lawyers, lobbyists and consultants.
This is a CHOICE.
FIX our planning system, SAVE money & BUILD infrastructure.

🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right
This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine.
“In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.”
“Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.”
Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right.
“If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’”
The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.

Tremendous contribution. Parliament at its best.
My question to the Foreign Secretary in which I support him on banning trade to illegal settlements in the West Bank.
Those like me who love the Jewish people know that they have always overcome every empire trying to destroy them because they are primarily people of the book not the sword, but the violence in the West Bank is ethnic cleansing.
