Conclusions from 28 years' search for meaning: 1. Invest in multiple sources of future income early for F U Money 2. Spend majority of time doing fun+worth-it stuff - eg redoing finances with @myhellogold or building @ETHKL1 3. Pay things forward

Team’s been quietly adding a bunch of cool features on the Blockscan app… 1. Group (portfolio) that covers top EVM and SVM chains 2. Daily headlines 3. Native mobile block explorer 4. E2EE wallet-to-wallet chat Try it out if you haven’t!
🆕 Transaction Notifications in Blockscan Mobile App Receive a 📱 push notification when a transaction that involves one of your Group's addresses is executed onchain. This was the top requested feature on @BlockscanHQ app, happy to deliver it!

Above all a good human being who tries his best to do the “right” thing without succumbing to concocted purity tests
Matthew Tan (founder of Etherscan): > be a developer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾 > builds Blockscan for Counterparty in 2014 > recognises that Ethereum smart contracts are coming > understands that old explorers can’t handle the complexity > rebuilds it alone into Etherscan in 2015 > launches one of the first Ethereum block explorers > grows it into the #1 tool used by millions everyday > runs 50+ blockchain explorers under one platform like polygonscan, arbiscan, BscScan and Solscan > still independent > no VC pressure 11 years and going strong

etherscan has every right to charge money for the service they provide etherscan is not a public good, it is a business that needs to make revenue to survive if you’re using etherscan’s API, chances are you are profiting off of it in some way anyways

Be @etherscan > Offer FREE and generous APIs for 10+ years > Made it clear that FREE APIs can evolve over time > Continue running explorers even after some foundations drop funding > Adds a small API fee (for a tiny subset of chains) to ensure long-term sustainability > Still keep verified contract API endpoints free for all tiers across every supported network > Watch the FUD roll in 🙄 info.etherscan.com/whats-cha…

Will never tire of this kinda life advice… “working with smart people I want to hang out with and learn from” forever underrated
PM at Dropbox → PM at Instacart → Head of ChatGPT (world's fastest growing consumer product). Here's @nickaturley's simple career strategy: "I don't know how to vet companies or predict which spaces will take off, but I do have a sense for people. Every career decision was just figuring out who are the smartest people I want to hang out with and learn from."

Kind people paying the kindness forward is why I fell in love with Ethereum and bet a living on it @AppletonDave thanks for the patient late night explanations at 3JB 😊
In 2015, when I first started building Etherscan as a solo founder, I would at times get "stuck" (no AI helpers back then!). One particular tricky area was the "internal txns". I remember reaching out to Peter late at night on Gitter —he was very helpful and kind.. he replied, explained, even drew diagrams. In 2016, while trying to figure out how to keep Etherscan sustainable (after getting rejected for a foundation grant 😅), I applied to @BoostVC. They needed a reference—Peter kindly agreed to be one. Peter didn’t just help with Ethereum—he helped the people building around it. Sincerely wishing you the very best in your next chapter @peter_szilagyi. 🙏

Is it a sign of my commitment to Ethereum and Etherscan or my lack of a life - that I’m choosing violence deep in threads while on a holiday in Cameron Highlands 😂
Hey @devanshmehta some points: 1. Users can freely download the source code of verified contracts via both the site UI and API (for those marked with open source licenses - the ones without we obviously aren’t able to share)
