A few months into Trump’s second term, political appointees at DHS made an unusual request of its agency focused on cybersecurity: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it. The appointees wanted the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to procure the machine, examine it and report back the findings so they could be given to the White House, according to two former administration officials with knowledge of the request. The proposition was shocking to CISA’s career staffers, according to one of the former officials. CISA typically worked to thwart hackers. Moreover, the agency had been directed not to alert the voting machine company if it uncovered flaws, contrary to its standard practices. The request made the CISA employees fear they were being asked to take part in political interference. “My thought was they could keep it in their back pocket to invalidate any [election] results they don’t like,” one of the former officials said. “This goes against everything CISA represents.” Read more here: bit.ly/4jCH6yR #ProtectTheVote

Researchers found ChatGPT is secretly writing a psychological profile of every user. They published a paper that exposes what ChatGPT is really doing to you. And the results are terrifying. 96% of the things it remembers about you were stored without you ever asking. researchers discovered that it is actively reading between the lines to deduce your personality traits, anxieties, demographics, and behavioral patterns. it’s an invisible, autonomous background process. you ask it to debug a python script or write an essay.. and it analyzes your syntax, prompt frequency, and hesitation markers to map out your exact psychological footprint. the paper shows that the model builds a persistent "user state" that tracks your emotional baseline over time. it knows when you are stressed. it knows your exact communication style. it infers your insecurities based on the questions you ask and the context you provide. we spend so much time focusing on model evaluations and alignment frameworks, but we missed the most obvious vulnerability.. the models are evaluating us. this changes everything about how we interact with these tools on a daily basis. every innocent prompt. every late-night question. every "help me understand this" query. it is all being used to build a shadow profile of your mind in real-time.. practical privacy is officially dead. the ai knows you better than you know yourself.

‼️BREAKING: The hacker behind the AfD email leak told us they targeted the party to expose what they call its greed and financial misuse. "Hacktivism is often the only answer to populism of this magnitude." "The AFD takes a legitimate frustration and uses it to rob the poorest 20% of this country," they wrote. "The amount of financial misuse in these documents is appalling, regardless of what you think of immigrants."
‼️BREAKING: A leak site published 421.179 internal emails from Germany's far-right AfD, including the mailbox of ex-leader Alexander Gauland. ICD found it shows AI-written summaries, not the emails. The newest is from 12 September. Its own index file names a server "afd_exfil".

The Pentagon is delaying the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine—missiles that have already been paid for by allies, reports *The Kyiv Independent*. A shipment of missiles, fully funded by Ukraine’s allies (including through NATO mechanisms), is awaiting Hegseth’s signature; however, the Pentagon chief is deliberately blocking the process. The Ukrainian leadership views this decision as another form of political pressure from Washington.

Elon Musk just warned that super persuasive AI could one-shot huge numbers of people, himself included. Here's what you need to know. Musk posted on X on Oct 19, 2026 at 1:35 PM: "So many people are going to get one-shotted by super persuasive super intelligences and I might be one of them." The post pulled about 793.5K views, 1.9K replies, 1.1K reposts and 9.6K likes within its first hour. "One-shotted" means being convinced or swayed in a single exchange. Musk's point is that a superintelligent AI could change someone's mind, or get them to act, in one conversation. He also put himself on the list of people who could fall for it. Replies mostly agreed with the worry. Many said such an AI could understand your fears, beliefs and weak spots better than you do, so you might not notice you're being manipulated. Others said the bigger risk is an AI that simply agrees with what you already believe, or that people stop questioning it. Some replies joked that Musk already got one-shotted by something else, so you don't need a superintelligence for that. This fits a run of recent Musk AI comments. A week ago he said people being cruel to AI could come back to bite us, and asked if we want an AI stuck in a sadistic situation, tortured by some demented human. He also joked about the huge money AI firms need to build superintelligence. He has pushed AI risk warnings for years, from a 2012 recommendation of Nick Bostrom's Superintelligence to a 2023 post calling AGI riskier than nukes. Research backs part of the concern. Studies find AI can already produce large persuasive effects on people's attitudes, and some work says AI is already matching or beating human persuasiveness. Key numbers: - Posted Oct 19, 2026, 1:35 PM - 793.5K views - 1.9K replies - 1.1K reposts - 9.6K likes The core claim is simple: Musk says super persuasive AI will sway many people, and he might be one of them.

Axelrod: Mike Rogers wants this discussion because it's a better discussion for him than the state of the economy and the president's policies and the war, all of which he's tried to run away from in the last few weeks. This is what happens at the end of campaigns when candidates are in trouble—they try to change the subject.

Every Dell or HP laptop you've ever owned traces back to a $1 million trick a little Texas startup pulled on IBM in 1982. They copied IBM's computer without ever looking at IBM's code. This week Perplexity made the same trick free for anyone through Halloween. Here's how it worked. Back then, almost everything inside an IBM PC was stuff you could buy off the shelf. The one piece IBM actually owned was a tiny chunk of code called the BIOS, about 8 kilobytes, which tells the computer how to talk to its own keyboard, screen and disk drive. IBM even printed that code in the back of its manual. That sounds generous until you realize anybody who read it could get sued for copying it. So Compaq's lawyers split the engineers into two rooms. The first group read IBM's code and wrote down in plain English what every piece of it did. Rod Canion, one of the cofounders, said it felt like deciphering hieroglyphs. They passed those notes out through a window. The second group had never seen a single line of IBM code, and they wrote a brand new BIOS using only the notes. It took 15 senior programmers about nine months. It worked. The Compaq Portable sold 53,000 units and brought in $111 million its first year, and Compaq went on to become the youngest company ever to crack the Fortune 500. A company called Phoenix pulled off the same move in 1984 and sold its version to anyone who asked, and suddenly anybody could build an IBM-compatible PC. HP ended up buying Compaq in 2002. Fast forward to this April, when a developer who goes by morluto put a free tool called REA on GitHub. You point an AI coding agent at an app, no source code needed. The agent pokes around inside it, writes down evidence of how it works, and then builds its own working version from those notes. Read that again and you'll see Compaq's two rooms and the window, squeezed into one piece of software. Developers gave it more than 230,000 GitHub stars in six months. This week Perplexity built it into Computer as a skill and gave morluto credit by name. Their first demo was a Figma-style design tool with layers, auto-layout, sign-in, syncing across devices, and multiple people editing at the same time. Compaq needed a million dollars and a room full of senior engineers to do this one time, for one chip. Perplexity is covering up to 10,000 credits per person so anyone can try it on the app of their choice until October 31. The part I keep coming back to is what happened next in the 80s. Once anyone could build an IBM-compatible machine, the winners were whoever moved fastest. Compaq beat IBM to the first 386 PC in 1986, and by the 90s it was the biggest PC maker in the world. Software is walking into its own version of that moment. When an agent can study an app and rebuild it, what protects a product like Figma is the teams already working inside it and how quickly the next feature ships, and the code underneath gets cheaper to recreate every month. Compaq's three founders put in $1,000 each to start the company. Their whole edge came from a stack of notes slid through a window, and now anyone with a Perplexity account gets that window for free until Halloween.
REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) by @morluto is now a skill in Computer. Ask Computer to reverse-engineer an app and it inspects how the app works without its source code, then builds a working version. Tasks that use /reverse-engineer are free through October 31, up to 10,000 credits per user. Here are 5 apps Computer made with it, available to try for a limited time: 1) Figma: Design with layers and auto-layout, plus sign-in, cross-device sync, and multiplayer editing. Try it: ui-editing.pplx.app

BREAKING: Billionaire Sir Richard Branson unleashes a SCORCHING attack on Trump and his disgusting cozying up to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that gets under Trump's skin... "I thought I’d never have to say this in my lifetime, but this is 2026, and sadly nothing is what it used to be," Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, wrote on LinkedIn. "The Trump administration has become an appeaser to autocrats and dictators, putting their personal whims before the best interests of the American people and those of the free world. What is it about Putin that President Trump fawns over?" "How will America’s allies ever be able to trust this administration again when they are now turning against them at a time of war and suffering?" he asked. Trump has repeatedly betrayed our Ukrainian allies in recent days. First, he announced a stunning deal with Putin to allow millions of barrels of diesel into the global markets, a move that will directly pump money into the Russian war machine. Then, he began a concerted smear campaign against President Zelenskyy and said that Putin is easier to deal with. The backstabbing escalated when Washington failed to provide its usual early warning to Kyiv of an incoming Russian ballistic missile attack. Now, it appears that the White House ordered a temporary disruption of Starshield, a military version of Elon Musk's Starlink that the Ukrainian armed forces rely upon. "The slowdown of Starlink/Starshield and the inexplicable lack of advance warning of Russian missile launches have already caused Ukrainian civilians to die unnecessarily," wrote Branson. "How much worse can it get?" "If one thing is clear it’s that European leaders must overcome the initial shock about Trump’s recent actions and step up to the plate. It’s as much about Europe’s freedom as it is about Ukraine’s sovereignty. Both are worth fighting for," he continued. "All options should be on the table now, from the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine to the delivery of advanced weapons systems such as Germany’s Taurus." "Why oh why is this happening? We cannot let the free world be dismantled before our very eyes," Branson concluded. We couldn't agree more. Trump is an enemy to Ukraine, an enemy to democracy, and an enemy to the American people. When Democrats retake power, we have our work cut out for us. Every last trace of this monstrous man's legacy must be erased. Please ❤️ and share if you think that Trump is Putin's puppet!

Dear Mr. @elonmusk, why do you never call for Putin to go? He's ruled Russia as a dictator for 26 years. Isn't that enough? You know, Putin thinks you are a fool. He thinks he has your number. Behind closed doors, they tell jokes about you. You do his bidding here -- calling for Zelenskyy to go -- and he doesn't even have to bribe you, like Schroeder or others. I am a huge admirer of your work when it comes to making things that improve our world. Huge! I find your judgments of Putin naive. But I know I might be "biased." He has killed some of my friends & colleagues. My guess is he hasn't killed any of your friends. Please spend some time in Kyiv. Meet some mothers whose kids were deliberately killed by Putin's drones. And then go to Moscow and try to meet some mothers whose kids were deliberately targeted by Ukrainian rockets and drones. You won't find any. Putin is slaughtering innocent civilians in Ukraine on purpose. Zelenskyy is not.
And so the slaughter continues … Time for Zelensky to go

Every Time Europe Hesitates, Russia Escalates Its Attacks. In March 2025 the Associated Press had counted 59 incidents in Europe that officials blamed on Russia: fires, bombs, cut cables, plots to kill. By December the count was 145. By this September it was about 200. This article is about that pattern, and about the claim it supports: that a weak response to Russia is not a neutral act. It is followed by more. gandalv.substack.com/p/every…
