Clipping is both incredibly effective and incredibly easy to waste money on.
1) it works really well for personality driven media
2) this means that for politicians it makes a lot of sense
3) if you are a startup, clipping can make a lot of sense if you want to jumpstart internal media
4) if youโre not careful you will get scammed with view botting, etc.
I help a few podcasts and they are all seeing success with it.
Are these social clipping services an effective marketing channel for start-ups and politicians?
Educate me please @grok @computer

Spencer Pratt is currently running 2 paid clipping campaigns.
Creators are being offered $$ to post clips of Pratt from the recent debate, along with Pratt's recent podcast appearances.
Pages need to have 50%+ USA audience to participate, but do not need to be based in CA.

Every consumer app eventually becomes an advertising business.
OpenAI ad sales gigs abt to explode globally
We are starting to test ads in ChatGPT free and Go (new $8/month option) tiers.
Here are our principles. Most importantly, we will not accept money to influence the answer ChatGPT gives you, and we keep your conversations private from advertisers.
It is clear to us that a lot of people want to use a lot of AI and don't want to pay, so we are are hopeful a business model like this can work.
(An example of ads I like are on Instagram, where I've found stuff I like that I otherwise never would have. We will try to make ads ever more useful to users.)
Ok
Weโre trying something new: weโre giving $1 million to the Top Article of the next payout period.
We're doubling down on what creators on ๐ do best: writing.
In 2026, our goal is to recognize high-value, high-impact content that shapes conversation, breaks news and moves culture.

Replying to @DanielPriestley
They will pitch and promote insane minimums to big brands, drum up press and shotty case studies, just to open up the floodgates shortly after to performance ad buyers to sweep the floor with ashwagandha gummy ads.

ChatGPT is experimenting with advertising in their free subscription.
Iโm old enough to remember when Google started running ads and for a few years you could get warm leads for pennies.
I also remember when Facebook launched ads and they had so many eyeballs and so few advertisers that it cost nothing to get clients for the first few years.
Corporate advertisers donโt move fast on new things. They take 6 months to plan and 6 months to test before they go in heavy.
Right now ChatGPT has almost a billion users a week. If they start running ads, they will have a lot of eyeballs and not so many advertisers until the corporates come in. There will be a window of opportunity to win customers very cheaply if you jump on it.
I wish I had of been more bullish when Google and Facebook launched ads. I didnโt recognise how unique the moment was and I also didnโt realise how fleeting it would be.
When ChatGPT launches ads, Iโm going to seize the day and Iโd encourage you to be ready to do the same.
