The Poconos are beautiful at every time of year, but this is a clear sign the entire region is failing to make housing affordable.
How far are you willing to go for your chance at the American Dream? Since the completion of I-80 in the 1970s, generations of New Yorkers have decamped to the Poconos, transforming a cluster of towns & enduring 3hr roundtrip commutes to their jobs in NYC. thecityreporter.nyc/2026/10/…

People used to say that we were in an urgent crisis and we needed immediate action and if you disagreed you were a climate denialist. If this bill gets one more solar panel added to the grid and if net emissions falls by one gram then it's obviously worthwhile.

“I don't care how much good green energy projects can get approved...it is at the cost of tribal sacred places," said Jessie Barrington of Cultural Heritage Partners, a law firm that represents tribes and helped author the memo

If you put monthly expenses on credit and pay off the card each month, you never accumulate interest but get to prove that you can be trusted with someone else's money. That's good when you have to be trusted with larger expenses. But it's fine to acknowledge you can't be trusted

The material outcome is likely to be LePen's party taking a majority, so I don't wish for this.
I do wish No Kings was a bit more French

A good way to tell is that the protesters are burning things rather than performing bureaucratic functions with their legislative majority.

Seems dumb tbh
Detroit News: Former Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party is leading an effort to make sure Democrats leave their ballot blank for the US Senate race in Michigan. Lon Johnson, the former chair, supported Rep. Haley Stephens over El-Sayed in the August Democratic primary. detroitnews.com/story/opinio…

Someone who doesn't enjoy the taste of beer has not found their favorite beer yet.
Unpopular opinion; No one - literally not a soul - actually enjoys the taste of beer. Not a single human. Those who claim to enjoy beer, don’t actually. It’s really just a social ritual, a form of self deception… the impact of decades of stacked marketing to convince you that beer is anything but an alcohol delivery mechanism. You can enjoy getting sloshed. You can enjoy the social liberation that alcohol offers. You can enjoy the party. But don’t act like you actually like the taste of beer. You don’t. You might think you do. But you don’t. Because it tastes like it looks: bitter dehydrated piss, with bubbles. In the case of Guinness, like diarrhea, with bubbles. And you know it.

It is hard to deal with being accused of something untrue. It is possible that AI detection software is imperfect, and it might be flagging certain ethnic phrases incorrectly. But many of the criticisms seem to be against checking for AI entirely. They seem like marks.

The death penalty has been unacceptable in Catholic doctrine much longer than I've been alive. And at this point I'll pray for anyone who doesn't have TDS.
It’s amazing the lengths people will go to in order to excuse the Pope showing his TDS

Today is World Against Death Penalty Day. He doesn't have to say anything about Trump but people keep projecting criticism because they know he's the first pro-death president.
Is it just me or does Pope Leo only post about politics when he disagrees with Trump and the GOP and keeps his mouth shut about political disagreements he may have with Democrats?

There's a proposed train line to my hometown which has been protested for years because people are afraid it'll bring too many black people from Camden. Racists should not have a veto point over something which will benefit the rest of us.
Abundance/pro-BAAJA proponents, as far as I can tell, seem to argue that building more faster guarantees prosperity for all, while ignoring how existing social inequities are either caused or significantly worsened by infrastructure being built without regard for community input.

Going after Whitehouse for not being pro-climate enough feels like McCarthy going after General Marshall.
Sheldon Whitehouse owning a ton of data center stock.... Huh, what else has he been in the news for lately? Oh, yeah, now the permitting "deal" makes a lot more sense!

As a country we put way more focus on creating legal battles and creating political alliances against oil than the construction of clean energy.
a partial list of litigations and other actions CBD has taken against fossil fuel in the past few years, as well as their main objections to the Inflation Reduction Act, primarily directed at selling of public land to the fossil fuel industry These Abundance guys are ridiculous.

Claiming doxxing when you reply on a public forum is not much different from claiming housing "in the works" but not delivering.

I have a cousin who used to live in LA but whose home burned down in the Palisades fire and was forced to leave. Bass is still failing his family. Mamdani is overseeing 4K homes at 100 Gold Street, the tallest housing project in the country. Bass lacks the same ambition.

I would love for urban mayors to compete on who can build more housing the fastest. If that were the case, Bass would flunk. It doesn't bode well that her supporters will block someone the instant there's some criticism.
