1/ ahhh the team is so thankful & thrilled with the response to berd, ty all! whether you liked the gloopies or hated them 😈
i think this shows that people welcome a fresh perspective - a tool can be functional and powerful, while also being fun and having a personality.

berd is made by a bunch of sweethearts, and you can somehow feel it in every little corner, the kind of tenderness and playfulness i’ve been missing on the internet. we love you <3
Today we open sourced our no 1 used internal tool, berd. An agent where you can byo harness/models while keeping your work and context in one place, in an unhinged environment where you can build your dream team of agents. Try it out at berd.xyz!

sharing gloopies (agents) with each other has been the most fun I've had with a design team in over a decade.

a feature I loved building was the share/import agent experience with shiny lil cards and also the ability to embed agent metadata in png to share!
berd is the werd
We often build the tools we need ourselves. Berd is the desktop application our teams use to work with AI agents across projects, skills, tools, and models. Today, we’re making it open source and sharing what we’ve learned. Meet Berd, AI with character: block.xyz/inside/designing-a…
+1 to how design and engineering crafted this together, so proud of the team!
Today we're open sourcing Berd, a beautiful desktop app for working with AI agents. And one that isn't afraid to have a personality.
We had capable models and harnesses everywhere, but no environment around them that we actually loved opening every day. So a small team built one for ourselves, and it's scaled to something a huge portion of Block now uses. Especially the non-engineers who want to build things.
The part I'm proudest of is how it was built. Design and engineering as one team. Designers in the code and engineers in the design decisions. Everyone owning what they're working on; everyone moving together like it was choreographed...and really fast.
In a world where anyone can build anything now, what makes something worth opening every day is the care inside it. Berd is for people who want to step outside the norm a little. Who want their solo workspace to feel fun, and who want AI to feel less scary and confusing.
Model-agnostic, harness-agnostic, and built for you to shape your own AI world. From us, to you.
Today we open sourced our no 1 used internal tool, berd. An agent where you can byo harness/models while keeping your work and context in one place, in an unhinged environment where you can build your dream team of agents. Try it out at berd.xyz!

buzz helps me partition my mind and compartmentalize thoughts into agent outputs that i can conduct simultaneously. wild feeling once it hits.
golden era ahead w/the crew.
if you're using Buzz and your sidebar feels chaotic, this might be why. I've been building the app for a few months now and figured out how I like to stay organized.
one channel per feature. drag it through states. archive when done. that's my whole system.

My perfect trio in Buzz:
1. Vogue, my go-to for a keen visual eye
2. Trace, keeps me honest about the code. When my engineering teammates give me feedback, I feed that back into Trace.
3. Morgarita, who is me as an agent but likes to party
we're launching BUZZ!
a new groupchat platform for teams of people and agents of all sizes, built to reduce our dependency on slack and github. model-agnostic, decentralized, self-sovereign, and open source. 🐝
