Seven years ago today we picked out our puppy named Roary ( Little Dude ) from a rescue shelter. Today we had to let him go due to an illness that he just couldn't come back from.
He was the runt of the litter and the cutest of the three puppies. Roary has had everything and more thrown at him his entire life and has always been able to bounce back. He had a luxated lens that caused him to lose sight in one eye and his other eye required constant drops three times a day everyday of his life. He had Addison’s disease and other chronic issues dealing with his intestines. All these things were daily and things he dealt with and overcame and still be a very happy dog with the ability to give us love at every turn and accept our love daily. He developed lymphoma, (cancer) in his lower intestinal tract that was the one thing he couldn't fight back from.
These photos show the first day when we picked him out, one month after bring him home and the last day of his journey with us. He moves on to green pastures where he can see with both eyes and has no care in the world.
His journey we believe would have been cut short had he been adopted by parents that could afford the treatments he needed. We fortunately were able to provide those treatments till the end. The final picture is a poem that fits today and will fit everyday following. A reminder to us that he has a special place in our hearts and always will.
This post makes things real and servers as a catharsis moment for Erica and I.
I want to thank son and his wife for being there at the vets to say their goodbyes and support us.

Today, the flags of the United States and the State of Louisiana fly at half-staff in honor of the legendary, Bob Pettit.
Bob was a Louisianan through and through, representing the State with pride on the biggest stages.
He will be dearly missed. Sharon and I join his family, friends, and the LSU community in mourning this monumental loss.
Hate to see starting players go down. Hope he gets back soon. Not a hard line Navy guy but pull for them because of my father being a veteran.
