while devoted christians that are into fantasy are losing it at the Bowie-inspired design and at the Aslan voiced by the queen herself Meryl Streep (god is a woman anyway), I think Greta Gerwig definitely cooked here

HOT TAKE: I’m sure it will be extremely unlike what people have in their heads, (including me) and that’s GOOD actually. A great filmmaker read a classic book, had a totally new creative interpretation of that book, and now they’re giving us that new interpretation. That’s art!

everything about Greta's take on Aslan is brilliant to me. the kaleidoscopic creature textures (fur, feathers, scales) call to mind biblically-accurate angels and prophetic beasts. and the juxtaposition of a male lion with an older woman's voice feels totally unearthly, divine.
