Someone (who does not work for Oracle) emailed in to Oracle support today and got this gem in response. If you as a vendor *ever* say something like this to me, I will begin the migration off of your offering that very evening. I don't care what it will cost.

Sending notifications telling me to buy stuff from your app is the fastest way to get me to block your notifications or uninstall your app. I want useful notifications, not thinly veiled messages to try getting me to spend more money on you.
I hate being the person to tell someone to RTFM, but please RTFM.
I'm starting to get YouTube ads for literal tinfoil-hats. I've either done something really right or REALLY wrong to get AdSense to tag me with that.

Good read and response from Zoom. As mentioned earlier they are handling this the right way. Zero day dropped March 30th - fixed April 1st. UNC issue fixed and more. Impressive. Lots of communication and clarity - that’s a good thing. blog.zoom.us/wordpress/2020/…

Having some fantastic Pho with an iced coffee while I read a classic sci-fi book, HG Wells “War of the Worlds”. Perfect way to spend a few hours.

Please follow these steps when you are asking for technical help: 1. What you did, what you expected to see, and what you saw. 2. If you did anything new shortly before. 3. What steps you have taken to try fixing. 4. If it has always done that, or if you’ve never tried it before.

Due to worries about DNS over HTTPS concentrating all traffic through a single server that can see your traffic, the only logical next step is DNS over Blockchain.

I wish IPv6 was actually supported by ISPs. Giving all of my VMs public addresses and DNS entries would be a dream come true.

TIL macOS 10.15 uses LibreSSL instead of OpenSSL. Awesome! Also TIL Homebrew Python segfaults when dynamically linked against this. Not awesome! 😫 Can be fixed by installing OpenSSL and adding it to DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH. Hopefully it gets linked against LibreSSL soon!

Me, writing an email: I'm using an exclamation point so you know I'm friendly and excited! But now I'm using a period so that you know I'm not crazy. Here's another sentence with a period as a buffer, proving my normalness. Thanks so much!

I didn't realize, but the Center for Naval Analysis released a report on the analysis on memes in 2018. It features citations and "subject matter experts", and its glorious. apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fullte…
