One thing to keep in mind. The overall ridesharing market in the US is ~4.5B rides per year. If we assume an average of 10 miles/ride, that is 45B miles. Even if Tesla converts every single mile, 100% market share, at $2/mile, that is revenue of $90B. Nothing to sneeze at, sure, but this doesn't get the valuation to 10x from where they sit now. A lot of this is already priced into the high P/E. The only way this grows beyond $90B is by displacing other forms of transportation. This would require a cost/benefit that is very favorable for the consumer, and may also run into regulatory concerns. Public transportation very cheap, and heavily publicly subsidized. How realistic is this? I think tesla's best bet is still to reach some sort of hybrid model where they can compete in ridesharing, but also keep selling cars for individual car ownership, and license their FSD to other manufacturers. If FSD delivers, the demand for their cars will increase as a result. And then we have peripheral opportunities in insurance, advertising etc. There are 100 different ways this can go. I think fully displacing personal vehicle ownership and public transit is the least likely thing to happen.

I was on the tail end of a 500 mile drive back from Omaha yesterday with my 77 year old dad and we nearly had a very serious accident, possibly deadly for the other driver. Look at this older Toyota Corolla blow this light at 60mph more than 3 seconds after it turns red. If it was me driving, because I could not see the Corolla as it was occluded by the stopped cars, we would have had a head on collision or I'm mid-turn and he would have impacted my dad's side of my @cybertruck. Thankfully @tesla FSD was doing the driving and it has superhuman reaction to brake pedal application time (aka PRT = perception response time) of about 0.25s while very good human is 0.8-0.9s or average human is 1.5-2.5s. This is life saving technology and it may have saved one yesterday. Thanks to @aelluswamy, @elonmusk, and the whole team behind this.

Honest question for the $TSLA bulls. It seems obvious to most investors that self-driving will become a solved problem. Our intelligence is getting better, but the problem of driving is not getting harder. What happens to the $99 per month subscription when every competitor has similar capabilities? Wouldn't the eventual cost of self-driving fall to $0 as all the compute will soon run locally on the vehicle itself?
