I am sitting with my friend who is at his Canadian citizenship ceremony via Zoom. There is a long delay. He was supposed to swear his allegiance to the Queen. I'm guessing they're trying to sort out what to do now.

When will I learn to save everything to the cloud folder where it should be saved? My guess, never.

As an Amtrak lover, I’m excited about possibly having more routes back. But for rail to be viable long term it needs speed. Maybe not plane speed, but speed nonetheless. m.fark.com/goto/11731614/www…
I had a great class today! I think this is going to be a fun semester :) :)

This is essential reading for every higher ed administrator. Faculty need the approval and full support of the administration to make this possible.

Afghanistan is a hot mess and is undermining the president’s competency message. But at least the president is not telling me to inject myself with bleach. 🤷‍♂️

Wonder how much ‘groupthink’ played into overly rosey expectations for Afghanistan. And whether there should be more processes to reduce this at the highest levels of decision-making.
Many (incl me) wrestle w/ this. I’ve experienced several AA crews not enforcing FAA mask mandates. AA stopped distributing covid disinfectant wipes. I’m not sure AA disinfects ✈️ 4 covid daily. @united has good covid mitigation efforts. Costly, but protects pax & crew
So! I have been blocked by @AmericanAir which is weird, but fine… whatever. I’m traveling today on what will likely be my last AA flight until the FAA mandates vaccines for all crew or they decide the health and safety of their customers is more important than the conspiracy
Going to my university office for the first time tomorrow. Actually a bit nervous about how this will go, but thankful they are requiring ALL THREE: vaccinations, daily health checks, and weekly COVID tests.

Okay. Today was quite a 1st day back getting ready for the fall semester. Looks like the whole week will be interesting.
U.S. fought a limited war in Afganistan. US gov forgot to limit its objectives & promises. It's horrifying to watch. I hope one limited objective we did accomplish is a meaningful agreement with the Taliban to cooperate against terrorists plotting attacks in the US.
If correct, 88,000 interpreters and their families who needed rescuing. Only 1,200 were saved. This breaks my heart so hard. The next few days are going to be so terribly bloody. The carnage will impede the US in future foreign conflicts.
The U.S. government have likely rescued less than 2,000 Afghan interpreters and their family members at this point. U.S. officials said on Friday that the number was about 1,200.
Great visit to @PutneyWinery today! Incredible non-grape wines. Some of my fruits wines ever, actually.
