In case “how touching other people” works isn’t clear (esp. at conferences), I made this quick technical reference.

I didn't know what to expect before my first conference.
Will I meet anyone cool? Will the talks actually be useful? Will I just end up scrolling Slack in a corner?
That pre conference anxiety is real, but everyone feels it.
Don’t let it stop you from showing up.
If you know a “Dr. G. Waldo”, kindly ask them to learn their own email address. And maybe call their attention to detail into question.
Even if it is a legitimate example of gaslighting, you’re not going to be wrong in calling it “lying”.
Super-happy with my final project of 2024! A 9-pocket gator-skin bifold wallet, hand-cut, stitched, & burnished. This was my first time working with an exotic leather, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how it turned out!
A gift for someone who’d given me much, an exercise in restraint, practicality, & design. Beautiful if awkward in ways.
I wouldn’t make it again, but I’ll use the lessons from this bag going forward. LMK if you’re interested in its descendants.
One of my best friends - and one of the smartest people I’ve ever met - told me that “when you own your own business, you’ve never worked for a more miserable prick.”
Been awhile since I’ve posted something that I’ve made, but this is a messenger bag strap for the sweet lady for whom I’d made the firewood tote for last year.
I’d like to say I’ll be better about posting things I make, but we all know that’s probably not going to be true…
Hurricane Milton has passed us. Worst of the storm was 2 4am, mainly as the eye had passed, and we were getting the backside swing of the storm center.
We still have power & internet, and amazingly only a few blips during the worst of it.
As is my hurricane tradition, I’ve Tetris’d up my workshop garage to bring my car in for the storm.
As with Tennis, it is a game of inches.
Pretty much done with hurricane prep. Now it’s just to carry on as normal as possible and see how our bets on outages turn out.
