‘What is Zionism and how do we confront it’. Sounds like a great event at Glasgow University.
Congratulations are due to the Islamic Society there for having the moral fibre to put this on.
Great to hear the democratically elected Rector spoke, the heroic doctor @GhassanAbuSitt1 along with comrade lawyer @FranckMagennis
He would be a great candidate for the next Rector, the election of which now approaches.
There should be similarly titled meetings up and down the country.
Obviously I would be happy to speak at any such meeting, but there are plenty of anti-Zionists to choose from now!

“What is Zionism and how do we confront it”.
That was the title of an event held by the University of Glasgow’s Islamic Society this week.
80% of British Jews identify as Zionists; only 6% do not. That ‘confronting’ a core part of their identity is being promoted on university campuses is hardly going to alleviate their concerns about their safety.
The event speakers included barrister Franck Magennis, who campaigned to de-proscribe the antisemitic terrorist group Hamas, and University Rector Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, who has been reported to the General Medical Council over his extremist rhetoric.
The event was apparently also promoted by the Glasgow University Justice for Palestine Society, which has reportedly attempted to ban Zionists attending university societies by designating Zionism as a “racist ideology”.
The weaponisation of anti-Zionism to intimidate and harass British Jews is spreading rapidly across university campuses.
Zionism is simply the belief that Jews have the same right to self-determination afforded to all other peoples of the world under Article 1 of the UN Charter. Denying them that right is racist. It is high time that university administrations recognise that, and take a stand against racist hate.

What about someone who sells someone a bottle of water which that person then gives to someone supporting Palestine Action? Is supporting a supporter of a supporter going to be arrestable? How far will the police go in their quest to make themselves objects of public ridicule?

Gaza: The site of the worst crime of the 21st Century, and the world’s first live-streamed genocide.
Gaza now looks like the aftermath of a nuclear war thanks to the Democratic Party, Republican Party, the UK, and EU states aiding Israel.
Joel Rubin, Senior State Dept. Official under Barack Obama: ‘Joe Biden didn’t start ANY WARS in his four years.’
Afshin Rattansi: ‘How could Netanyahu have launched the Gaza genocide without arms being sent by the Democrat President?’
Joel Rubin: ‘Hamas started the war in October 2023.’
Afshin Rattansi: ‘We started this show talking about the Balfour Declaration so let’s not get onto when the war started.’

Israeli occupying forces blew up the family home of Lebanese journalist Radwan Mortada days as his investigative documentary exposing Israel's pager attacks gathered global popularity
Now Israeli spies appear to be attempting to break into his phone
Yesterday, I received a security notification from Apple warning me that my iPhone had been targeted by a sophisticated mercenary spyware attack, involving technology of the kind developed by companies such as NSO Group, the Israeli firm behind the notorious Pegasus spyware.
Perhaps the most alarming aspect of Apple’s warning was its confirmation that such attacks target specific individuals “because of who you are or what you do.”
This is not the first time I have been targeted by spyware. I was previously targeted with Pegasus in both 2017 and 2021.
I do not yet know who is behind this latest attack, or whether it is connected to my investigative documentary, The Trap, which I directed and co-produced. The film, available on Al Jazeera 360, exposed the details of the September 2024 pager explosions in Lebanon.
What is certain, however, is that the targeting of journalists with sophisticated spyware poses a grave threat to press freedom, the confidentiality of journalistic sources, and the very foundations of independent investigative journalism.

This is how those who facilitate genocide should be met wherever they go and for the rest of their days on this planet. Genocide must be denormalized and its agents called to account. It is bad enough that the UNGA tried to wash the bloody resume of Baerbock. Why was Uppsala University doing the same? #Shame
Activists confronted former German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock at Sweden’s Uppsala University on Monday, accusing her of complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Baerbock was delivering the Dag Hammarskjöld Lecture, jointly hosted by the university and the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation. Protesters challenged her remarks defending attacks on civilian infrastructure and Germany’s military support for Israel.
In October 2024, Baerbock argued that civilian sites could lose their protected status if abused by Hamas. Germany approved €485.1m—about $554m—in arms exports to Israel between October 2023, and May 2025.

That scene of Amon Goeth, usually hungover, shooting innocent people fur fun from his balcony gave me nightmares after I first saw that film over thirty years ago. Yet here it is, actually happening in Gaza, and it is being justified by our politucal and media class. Horrific.

In researching my new book, Requiem for Gaza, I discovered how Israel systematically targeted and killed the Palestinian professional class (such as doctors and journalists), an obvious genocidal tactic. This goal is symptomatic of Israel's larger vision for Gaza; to ethnically cleanse its population via genocide.

Here is the arithmetic that the phrase "Global South" obscures:
Africa: 1.6 billion people.
Asia: 4.9 billion people.
Latin America and the Caribbean: 670 million people.
Together: roughly 7.2 billion people out of 8.3 billion on earth.
The "Global South" is not a minority asking to be included.
It is the majority that has been structured out of power.
The entire architecture of the post-war international order, the Security Council veto, the IMF voting weights, the WTO rules, the dollar as a reserve currency, was built to ensure that 7.2 billion people would not have proportional influence over the decisions that shape their lives.
That architecture is not natural law.
It is a set of choices made by the winners of a particular moment in history, encoded as permanent, and maintained by the threat of consequences for those who question it.
Questioning it is not radical.
It is arithmetic.

Lucy White says Britain has always been White, always Christian and always culturally homogeneous.
All three claims are false bigoted bullshit aimed at the gullible and at dumb ignorant racists.
Britain’s earliest modern inhabitants came from elsewhere. DNA analysis by the Natural History Museum and UCL suggests Cheddar Man, our oldest near-complete skeleton, had dark skin and blue eyes, and that pale skin arrived in Britain much later.
In Roman York, around one in ten people buried in the Yorkshire Museum’s collections were of likely African descent. One emperor, Septimius Severus, was born in Libya and died in York. Henry VIII’s royal trumpeter, John Blanke, was African, and Henry paid for his wedding clothes.
Christianity began in the Middle East and arrived here under Rome, after centuries of pagan belief.
Pagan Anglo-Saxons and Vikings followed, and England had to be converted again from 597. One of the earliest identifiable Christians in York, the woman known as the Ivory Bangle Lady, had North African ancestry.
Jewish communities lived here from 1070 until their expulsion in 1290, and returned in 1656.
Today, the 2021 census found that fewer than half of people in England and Wales describe themselves as Christian.
As for cultural homogeneity, Britain is a union of four nations, with several languages still spoken and a history shaped by Celts, Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans. For centuries after 1066 the English court spoke French. Protestants and Catholics fought over this country’s soul for generations. Homogeneous is about the last word any historian would choose.
Lucy White is the British representative of the Save Europe Act, which campaigns for “remigration” and to protect what it calls the “ethnocultural continuity” of Europe.
The European Commission refused to register it as a citizens’ initiative because it would amount to discrimination on grounds of race and ethnic origin.
If you can convince enough gullible politically and historically illiterate people that Britain has always been one race, one faith and one culture, then millions of British citizens begin to look like a mistake that needs correcting.
The real history is far more interesting, and it belongs to all of us. Britain has always been made by people arriving, mixing and changing what it means to be British.
Rewriting that history to serve a political project is pure #propaganda, and it deserves to be called out.

They will say: "Colonialism ended. It’s in the past. Move on."
The wealth extracted during colonialism did not end when colonialism ended.
It moved. It compounded.
It became the capital base of the modern Western economies.
It became the university endowments and the banking systems and the infrastructure and the head start that turns into the ongoing gap between the countries that extracted and the countries that were extracted from.
The past is not past in the way that phrase requires.
The past is the present’s foundation.
And asking people to "move on" from a foundation that is still structurally determining their circumstances is not a call for reconciliation.
It’s a request to stop noticing.

The groundbreaking documentary by Lebanese journalist @radwanmortada about Israel’s pager attacks is now available for English speakers.
3 weeks after it was released, the Israelis looted and then blew up Radwan’s house.
Tomorrow pro-Israel fanatics will release a propaganda film in U.S. theaters about the criminal pager attacks.

Understand what a compliant China would have meant.
Not just strategically. Economically.
The largest consumer market on earth, opened on American terms.
The manufacturing base of Asia, structured to serve American capital.
A military ally anchoring the Western Pacific.
A permanent American presence at the edge of the Soviet Union's eastern flank.
This was not a fantasy. This was the plan.
This was what Washington spent billions supporting the Kuomintang to achieve.
The plan failed. Completely, irreversibly, and publicly.
And the alternative that emerged, a China explicitly committed to its own development on its own terms, hostile to the architecture of American-managed Asian order, has never stopped being, at the core of American strategic anxiety, the thing that went wrong.
Everything since, the refusal to recognize the PRC for three decades, the Korean War, the Taiwan Strait crises, the American war in Vietnam, the encirclement strategy, the current technology war, is the long aftermath of 1949.
The plan failed.
Washington never fully accepted that the failure was permanent.
Guy Mitchell retweeted
The Korean War is rarely taught honestly.
It is taught as a response to "North Korean aggression."
It was also the moment the United States came into direct military confrontation with a China it had just "lost" and was not prepared to accept as a permanent fact.
When American-led UN forces pushed toward the Yalu River, toward the Chinese border, and China entered the war, what followed was one of the most brutal reversals in American military history.
The "frozen Chosin." Changjin Lake. The retreat. The casualties.
A China that had just emerged from a century of foreign humiliation, fighting with an army that had been at war continuously for over a decade and was equipped largely with captured weapons, stopped the American advance and pushed it back.
The war ended roughly where it started.
The "loss" of China, it turned out, could not be reversed by force.
That lesson was available in 1953.
The decades of encirclement, containment, and strategic hostility that followed suggest it was not fully absorbed.
Guy Mitchell retweeted
The phrase "Who lost China?" entered American political discourse in 1949 and never really left.
Sit with the grammar of it.
Not: China chose its own government.
Not: the Chinese people ended a civil war on their own terms.
Who. Lost. China.
As though China were a set of keys misplaced by an inattentive administration.
As though a country of 500 million people were an object that could be possessed, managed, and through negligence, dropped.
That grammar is not a metaphor.
It is a precise expression of how American foreign policy thought about the world. And still does.
Countries are not sovereign actors making their own choices.
They are positions. Assets. Pieces on a board.
And when a piece moves in a direction Washington didn’t choose, someone must have lost it.
The possibility that no one lost China, that China simply decided, remains, in certain American foreign policy circles, genuinely unthinkable.

a reminder that Israel is not a real country. It doesn't have declared borders. It doesn't have a constitution. Its population does not have family roots in the land prior to the modern advent of zionism. They don't have a native culture, native food, dance, or stories.
Israel is literally the greatest heist of the 20th century that expelled an ancient society and turned their land into a jewish supremacist military outpost murdering its way through time, and constantly cobbling together new stories about itself to suit the latest political whims, while destroying everything that threatens their latest flimsy narrative.
God and the Bible have nothing to do with this abominable entity. They're not "chosen." They're not "a light." They're the biggest and most dangerous charlatans the world has ever known.
That was not a democratic election. It was another act in this absurd theatre we're all forced to endure.

Every country America calls a "rogue state" has something in common.
It refused a request.
The request was always the same.
It was never about democracy.
It was never about human rights.
Open the market.
Accept the dollar.
Host the base.
Refuse, and the "human rights concerns" begin.

The ideological function of the Cuba argument is not primarily about Cuba.
Cuba has 11 million people and an economy the size of a mid-sized American city.
The function is to make any alternative to the existing economic order look like this:
Shortages. Lines. Restrictions. Decay.
So that when workers in any country begin asking whether a different arrangement might be possible, when they look at their own wages and their own conditions and begin wondering aloud who the economy is actually organized to benefit, there is a ready image.
"You want Cuba? That’s what you want?"
Cuba, the small island nation strangled by six decades of sanctions, is made to represent the ceiling of what any alternative can achieve.
Not because the evidence supports that conclusion.
Because the sanctions helped manufacture it.
The image is a product.
A very expensive, very deliberately produced product.
Paid for, in part, by ordinary Cubans who had nothing to do with the argument being made over their heads.
