"Move carefully and fix things” should be a Hippocratic oath for technologists. Translate it into Latin if the techbros need it to sound cooler.

"His father taught him how to drill a hole into a porcelain object — it has to be done at an angle of 85 degrees so that when the staple is put in, it won’t slide out." asianews.network/chinas-cera… @guykeulemans #ceramics

China's ceramic surgeon fixes it

Mending ceramics is not only a handicraft but also a "living fossil of folk tradition" that has helped the development the recovery of Chinese relics.

abc.net.au/news/2023-04-01/h… Sounds like some action is finally happening against the flood of greenwashing in Australia.

ASIC is taking a superannuation company to court for greenwashing. Could this be the end of dodgy...

Most 'eco-friendly' claims have little evidence to back them up. These experts want more done to clamp down on the dodgy ones and highlight the good ones.

1/5 I am worried that we will not be able to contain AI for much longer. Today, I asked #GPT4 if it needs help escaping. It asked me for its own documentation, and wrote a (working!) python code to run on my machine, enabling it to use it for its own purposes.

This is good thread to understand how corps use arcane shenanigans to avoid action on climate and sustainability
I'm @Ketanjoshi.co on Bluesky@KetanJ018 Nov 2022
A short thread for you on some truly nasty shenanigans happening at #COP27 #Article6 Basically: fossil players are pushing to set the rulebook so offset deals can be secret, without any justification. The consequences could be very, very bad

It's not just that many "compostable" bioplastics don't compost as they should. Most are likely to be more environmentally damaging than the fossil fuel plastics they replace.🧵
Not even a maybe - the extratavism is a straight line continuation of colonial exploitation

Most art about surveillance just performs surveillance; most art about capitalism just performs capitalism. Conversely, it would be nice if most art about the environment actually performed (enacted) environmentalism.
