My latest for The New York Times: a look at the life & legacy of the late great D. Boon. Visited San Pedro to talk to the surviving Minutemen, Mike Watt and George Hurley, as they continue to carry forward the spirit of Boon and the band. Gift link here: nytimes.com/2026/03/26/arts/…

D. Boon’s Death Shook Punk Rock. 40 Years Later, Minutemen Look Back. (Gift Article)

The influential band’s singer and guitarist died at 27, but the bassist Mike Watt and the drummer George Hurley never lost his spirit.

Even if you weren’t an Iron Maiden fan in 80s Britain, you knew their music from the Lucozade TV ad. #RIP Paul Di’Anno.

First time Tricky showed up to DJ in Seattle, he turned up at the club with just one album under his arm, the first Specials album. “Where’s the rest of your records?” asked a concerned promoter. “This is it, man,” came the reply. “This is all you need.” R.I.P. Terry Hall

Dream come true to play in Central Park last night - especially for Ryan as a NYC resident - an amazing thing to be able to tick off the list. Thanks to @SummerStage and @modestmouseband for a beautiful night in NYC. Photos by our old friend @guyeppel
