🧵 I have seen and know a number of people considering applications for jobs at Holyrood. I’d urge people to think long and hard before applying.
Whilst such jobs can open doors, provide opportunities etc, there are risks. See this story in March👇

The Scottish Green members bullying a young, disabled, trans woman like this should be ashamed of themselves.
No wonder so few in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire want to stand as local candidates. Those responsible are well known. Action is long overdue.

On going ahead with Jackdaw:
Sally Nugent: "For people who are going to be struggling to pay their energy bills this winter, what difference will this make?"
Energy secretary: "its really important to be clear that this project does not have an impact on affordability & bills"

A few thoughts on the announcement that the Jackdaw gas field development will go ahead 🧵
You'll hear claims today arguing we need Jackdaw for various reasons. Primarily some combination of energy security, perhaps cheaper bills and jobs. We should be sceptical of them.

When it comes to investing oil and gas revenues in green sectors, we should remember politicians have argued for ringfencing North Sea taxation for half a century, without any success whatsoever.
The Treasury view that all tax ought to be in the general budget has always won.
There’s actually a green case for new North Sea production:
– Domestic gas is 18% less carbon-emitting than imports from the US and the Gulf states.
– Higher tax revenue can be used to support green energy, EVs and heat pumps. arguably.uk/p/is-net-zero-st…

There is an increasingly disingenuous narrative peddled in Scotland about the impacts of granting new oil and gas licenses on North Sea production levels and job security. Amid this, it’s important to look at evidence 🧵

Some weekend!
As part of Better Buses for Grampian, I engaged with SNP members, and we secured the £2 fare cap for the North East!
I showed my support for the Stop Blackdog AI Data Centre crew ✊
Then I lead the launch of Living Rent Aberdeen’s Light Up Westburn Park campaign.
We won! 🙌
Thank you to everyone who signed our open letter to the Transport Secretary, to volunteers at Friends of the Earth Aberdeen and Buchan, and to all the SNP members who engaged with our campaign.
Next stop, public ownership.
Cheaper bus journeys are coming to Aberdeen and the North East.
From April 2027, bus fares across the region will be capped at £2, helping people save money on everyday travel. #SNP26
It was great to be at the SNP conference today speaking with members about the Better Buses for Grampian campaign.
We had a very positive response to our aim of public ownership!
Public transport should be in public hands.
It was great to speak with That’s TV about @Living_Rent Aberdeen’s campaign to Light Up Westburn Park.
We’ll officially launch our campaign tomorrow, 5pm outside Marischal College. You are welcome to join us and show your support!

"The north-east is one of the worst-served areas for transport in Scotland.
Peterhead and Fraserburgh are some of the biggest towns in the country without a railway station.
It shouldn’t have to be like this…"

This is deeply distressing news. My heart goes out to the families of the three fishermen in Ness, and the communities on the Isle of Lewis.

Starlink doesn't work in Russia, so crippling Ukrainian Starlinks does not protect Russian refineries, but it does make Ukrainian military operations in Ukraine more difficult, and demonstrates (once again) why Europe should never buy American military hardware.
It was great to be at the Aberdeen Activist Fair this weekend. So many amazing groups and organisations doing great work in our communities.
