Why did Buchan lose its railway? Why bring it back? What would it cost and could this grassroots campaign actually make it happen?

Industry in Buchan is heavily reliant on transport, and our region is being held back by the HGV traffic on our roads.
This one facility will remove 20,000 HGVs from the A9 and A96, reconnecting Buchan will do the same on the A90.

Reconnecting Buchan to the railway will be transformative for the North East. It's time.

This keeps happening, over and over again we see railways smashing their predicted usage numbers, outperforming even the optimistic estimates.

Here's a reminder of what Douglas said during our most recent election campaign.
Great constructive meeting with @MaggieChapman this morning to discuss actions on our priorities:
1. Stations for Cove/Newtonhill.
2. Completing Aberdeen to Central Belt improvements.
3. Progressing Buchan to delivery.
We continue to meet with our new MSPs across party lines.
Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city, Aberdeenshire has a population matching the city. Yet the only railway stations in Aberdeenshire are the towns that happen to be on the intercity lines, and the city itself has only a single station.
It's time to fix this.

. @LNER has revealed some of the UK’s best beaches to visit by train this summer, naming many stations up and down the east coast of the country.
Buchan is blessed with some of the longest unbroken beaches in the UK, 'Platform to Paradise' indeed.

A tale as old as time, demand for rail connections have always been underestimated. The same will be true when we reopen the line through Ellon and Peterhead to Fraserburgh.

Local services between Inverurie, Aberdeen and Montrose will run more frequently.
These are the exact services that will serve new stations at Cove and Newtonhill. Time to build!
