How well do we understand the standards our software depends on? At Vinteum’s latest Deep Dive, Bitcoin developers spent a week opening the black boxes behind modern wallets: BIP 32, descriptors, Miniscript, PSBTs, and hardware signers. Here’s what we learned: blog.vinteum.org/inside-a-vi…

Bitcoin privacy is not binary. It’s a contest over inference. In our latest Deep Dive, we studied the transaction graph from both sides: how chain analysts narrow the set of plausible explanations, and how privacy techniques keep more than one alive. vinteum.org/blog/inside-a-vi…

Vinteum’s fourth year was about becoming a more durable organization. Supporting established contributors. Helping emerging developers move toward sustained open-source careers. Strengthening the systems around that work. The Year Four Report is out. vinteum.org/blog/vinteum-yea…

Running LND in production means knowing when to upgrade. The new published policy gives you that clarity. Lightning Labs maintains the two most recent release lines, and both get security fixes. A line reaches end of life when the second major release after it ships, so support tracks releases, not a calendar date. Once a line reaches end of life, it gets no further fixes. Run the latest minor of a maintained line to keep getting LND security fixes. As of today, the latest minors of maintained lines are v0.21.2 and v0.20.3. AI agents can now watch the World Cup ⚽️⚡ My Hermes agent just paid Bitcoin over the Lightning Network through L402 to follow France 🇫🇷 vs Morocco 🇲🇦 in real time. All powered by Lightning Pulse, a service and skill I built. It asked for the match, paid the invoice, and the payment itself became the key (the preimage). Too few people understand the bdk_chain crate deeply, so @_oleonardolima hosted a deep dive at Casa21 with our fellows and grantees. We went through how @bitcoindevkit models chain data, transaction graphs, anchors, checkpoints, spks, seen-at timestamps, and the indexing logic that lets wallets reason about transactions without depending on a single backend. These sessions are part of our monthly in-person technical deep dives, where we fly Vinteum fellows and grantees to São Paulo for a week of focused work: reading specs, reviewing PRs, studying architectures, finding bugs, and contributing together. In-person protocol work is powerful.
