Three things:
1. The app was built from ground up, no template has been used, has countless unique features.
2. Unique concept? Is there any unique concept even left? So you basically cant publish an app in an existing niche?
3. Even improving the app and sending it for review again is risky because they might terminate developer accounts just for sending their app to review again.
how to deal with this? I dont wanna give up on a work I spent 8+ weeks on day in and day out.
Now it has hit me as well. Changed from "In Review" to "Rejected" in the same minute.
I totally understand Apple is trying to keep the App Store clean and high quality. However, I dont believe there is any niche that is not saturated at this point.
Also, to just declare someones work "Spam" without really reviewing it at all just seems wrong.
I really hope they find a better solution for this problem without immediately declaring something spam or terminating entire accounts. Maybe make the entrance barrier higher or cap the amount of apps you can publish per month?
I answered all of those questions and also specifically told them how my app differentiates from the others. Mainly by integrating iOS 27 features, etc. There are so many features devs are missing out on. Especially because the AI models lately dont have them on the radar by default.
Lets see how it plays out.
It was in Seoul where I first got into mobile app developing during Covid in March 2020 when shit just got serious. Locked in, tried to learn new skills.
Midnights in the cafe in Hongdae with my old 128gb Macbook Air 2014 that couldnt even handle opening Android Studio and Xcode properly. While others were drinking just around the corner, I just kept working. Fully bootstrapped. Endless nights without knowing if it would make me even one dollar.
6 years, 60k MRR and a whole lot more skills and experiences later, I am back. Unfortunately the cafe doesnt exist anymore.
It was definitely a crazy ride, ups and downs all the time. Most of all, I was extremely lucky AI came along. Without it, it wouldnt have been possible at all. It literally skyrocketed my productivity.

YouTube algorithm doing gods work casually recommending me this 17 year old video: youtu.be/AiPHjEEdNPM?si=-Xt0…
Friend spent weeks making an app and got rejected the same minute it went into review (yes, the very same minute). They probably just saw the niche and decided to instantly reject it with the worst possible reason (4.3 - Spam).
The likely reason is probably because the niche is saturated. But lets be honest: What niche is not saturated at this point?
He already made sure:
- the app UI is not generic looking
- has original assets
- unique brand name + branded .com domain
- offers various features and of course is fully working
- offers an overall good user experience
- screenshots are high quality
He primarily used Codex to create the app. No loveable or any other "app generation service". In other words: He didnt "one shot" this app.
He asked me if he should redesign the entire app. I told him they probably didnt even take a look at the UI. But I also told him he should try to add UNIQUE features to the app.
Lets see how this one plays out.
here something hopeful: we sent an iOS app to review on 18th August. Took them 10 days to review and we got hit with the 4.3 spam rejection. Redesigned the entire app + screenshots. Sent it to review again on 3rd September. It was stuck on "Waiting for review" for 20 days (!). Then we decided go for the expedited review and just after one day the 4.3 spam rejection got lifted and the app is live.
Google Admob is really taking the piss. For 1+ years the app was totally fine. Suddenly, they have a problem with how the button calls for rewarded ads. It says "Watch ads to continue". Sent it to review 2 times believing I have fixed the issue (I dont even know whats the issue, they didnt attach any screenshots) and they rejected. There are no false claims. Its literally straight forward. No deception, nothing. This entire randomness without clarity is so annoying.
Most people run Meta / TikTok Ads for iOS apps. Go and try Google Ads for Android apps. No one is speaking about this. Currently I ran a test for my Android app. Google Ads outperform Meta Ads for Android apps by a mile (at least for me). Always gave me positive ROAS. For iOS apps on the other hand the attribution is horrible with Google Ads.
