So many women are talking about wishing they didn't have to work so they could be homesteaders and tradwives but I'll go a step further: I wish I didn't have to work so I could be in the aristocracy and have servants do everything for me.

Vote no on all 4 Washington Initiatives. Make Brian Heywood regret dumping multi-millions of dark money on this election.

25 years ago, Initiative 695 gutted funding for public transit and ferries in Washington state. Its devastation left impacts from Sequim to Seattle to Spokane that are still felt today.
Don’t let I-2117 be this generation’s I-695. Vote No.

Most drivers in the US are fully aware of how much it sucks to be a driver in the U.S. They complain about it constantly — the parking, the traffic, the road rage, the gasoline and insurance and repair cost.
We’re a few cognitive steps from all the light bulbs going off at once.

i don't understand this economy when nursing homes are so expensive they bankrupt our grandparents but nursing home aides need to use food banks.
daycare is so expensive it eats up one parent's entire paycheck and yet daycare providers only make $10/hr and need second jobs.
are we still doing boomer takes?
mine is that I absolutely hate talking to a voice/text recognition program when I call a support number.
I just can't ever phrase my request in a way such a program requires. Not on the spot.
Also I hate waiting for the robot to finish talking.
this is how things are in Hamburg as well. I love it.
Where I live now, people "helpfully" point out the pee-soaked elevator a mile away. No thank you.

As a general rule of thumb: whenever the alt-right and wealthy LA yoga moms are in agreement on something, then that thing is trying to kill you and they gave a Nobel prize to the guy who successfully killed it in return.
I'm so exited! Personally, I use the system for placing holds on the books I want to read, but I know computer access is really important to so many people. ❤️📚
🖥️ Access to public computers, pickup lockers, and the Suggest A Title form will come back the week of September 3rd!

Unpopular opinion but it's not a heartwarming story when people donate to teachers' Amazon wish lists. It's dystopian.
Good on everyone who helps, but it shouldn't be necessary. Systemic rot needs systemic solutions.
People with master's degrees teaching our kids for $50k a year and begging for basic supplies should not exist in the same reality with trillion-dollar companies and billionaires paying $0 in taxes.
Car culture is not egalitarian nor accessible.
The solution is to go back in time and make trains and buses the default, so that those Cranky Elderly Relatives can proudly boast they rode the subway all by themselves.
Maybe we can build this for the Cranky Elders of tomorrow.

- "Start by going to dance class. Any dance class. Acquire a level of proficiency that allows you to go out and do it for fun. The rest will happen."
- " No. I hate dancing."

sometimes i feel like maintaining open source software should be considered “women’s work”, because we’ve already been culturally conditioned to politely do free labor for the benefit of people who treat us badly
