PR folks: If you routinely email me bad press releases that have nothing to do with Michigan/Michigan politics there is an Outlook rule sending them straight to trash. I'm not a PR expert but if you're blasting a national list with trivial crap you're probably doing it wrong.

A PR person once told me to read a male reporter’s story on an administrative body so I could improve my understanding. It was the male reporter’s first time covering this board. I’d covered it for years.
Wake up Be told to read male colleagues’ stories on topics I’ve also covered Go back to bed

The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel – I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours. Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.

I shouldn't be the only female reporter on this shortlist. I was the only female reporter in lots of rooms/scrums over the years and that is NOT the current lay of the land. The press corps has diversified, but who insiders follow/take seriously/recognize hasn't. Catch up🧵

A young journalist asked me yesterday if she would be safe at a specific newspaper. My answer: No one is safe anywhere. Her reply: Should I stay in journalism? I feel there’s so much good to be done. Here’s what I said:

Will preventive scans & screenings - the kind we’ve all become used to getting for no cost since the ACA was enacted, such as mammograms - now start costing money again thanks to a court ruling? Here’s the immediate reaction from an expert who’s been watching the case:
I've been fielding a bunch of questions about Judge O'Connor's decision on the preventive services mandate and, for the very curious, I'll answer a few of them here. First, when does the decision take effect?

It's true! I'm thrilled to be heading to @politico to write about the relationship between the Biden administration and Capitol Hill. I'm eager to build on my experience covering Congress in my new beat.

Everyone has their breaking point. Mine was seeing a video of a victim laughing and dancing with friends. One of them was wearing a MSU Social Norms shirt. For context, the MSU health center makes these shirts with little duck cartoons and goofy slogans for partying safely.
