It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

Utter disgrace. Trump has profoundly betrayed Ukraine and shown clearly whose side he's on. The reason fuel prices are soaring in the US (and here) is Trump's own decision to attack Iran. We are paying the price for this vain, incompetent President.
BREAKING: Donald Trump has thanked Vladimir Putin for providing "the American and global marketplace" with '300,000 tons of diesel'.

It just doesn’t seem real, does it? This is the level of resources the state is giving to around 120 illegal migrants who have just broken into Britain. Remember this the next time they complain about a lack of police resources or numbers.

Something doesn’t add up.
The oil price today is £96 a barrel as petrol approaches £2 per litre.
In June 2008, it hit £109 a barrel yet petrol was £1.19 per litre.
Can someone please explain the difference?

Firefighters cannot rely on heroics to keep our communities safe.
We need the equipment, training and investment to protect the public properly.

So let me get this straight.
Harry and Meghan are already calling this an “extraordinarily reckless” intrusion when the police haven’t even finished investigating what actually happened.
But Harry can turn up at another school with cameras all over the place, one student complaining about “six cameras in my face” and another telling him to “fuck off.”
Apparently cameras around their own children are an unacceptable intrusion, but cameras around everyone else’s children are just fine?
And now this whole thing is being pushed through the media at exactly the same time RAVEC is reviewing their publicly funded security.
I’m sorry, but can we at least wait for the police to establish what actually happened before turning this into another security campaign?
Because right now it looks like they’re milking an incident that hasn’t even been fully investigated yet to make the case for taxpayer-funded protection.
How dumb do they think people are?

It’s reheated old Labour socialism with Burnham.
No plan to cut taxes.
No plan to cut welfare.
No plan to fund defence.
The Labour faithful may have been cheering. The markets were watching, and they know Labour won’t confront the grim reality of Britain’s economic peril.

The British state says we don’t have money to fund national defence.
But in the last week we learned it found £12 billion for welfare for foreigners, £665 million for Angola & now £88 million for Gaza.
There’s a magic money tree. It just doesn’t involve the British people.

Firefighters battled month-long fires this summer, often without proper PPE or adequate welfare facilities.
We need 5,000 more firefighters and a wildfire summit that delivers.

I did enjoy Angela Rayner giving Britain a lecture this morning on how only Labour “vets things properly”. Yes, that’s why the Labour Party made Jeffrey Epstein’s best friend Ambassador to the United States of America! 🤡

Dear Angela, @AngelaRayner
You tried to cancel the local elections in May because you knew Labour would get a kicking.
@reformUk threatened to take you to court so the elections went ahead.
Labour got a kicking.
Now, you’re threatening to retrospectively ban major donations to Reform. Even though Labour get millions from trade unionists, half of whom are probably Reform voters.
You’re terrified because Labour are going to get a kicking in 2029. You’ll lose your seat, Ange!
Be honest, what you’d really like is to ban Reform. Because this democracy thing is a bit of a ‘mare, isn’t it.
Do you have any idea how corrupt you look?
Here’s looking forward to the May 2027 elections. Labour will get a kicking.

So Angela Rayner is now telling us that people with billions shouldn’t be able to “buy their way into our democracy” after Reform received £72 MILLION from two crypto billionaires.
Okay Angela. Let’s look at what was apparently perfectly acceptable before Reform started winning the fundraising battle.
Labour took £4 MILLION from Quadrature Capital, the investment firm.
They’ve taken millions from wealthy businessmen like Gary Lubner.
Millions from Lord Sainsbury.
Millions from Dale Vince and Ecotricity.
Millions from trade unions over the years. Rayner was actually challenged about that this morning and said union money was “different”.
The Conservatives?
£15 MILLION from Frank Hester and his company The Phoenix Partnership.
£5 MILLION from billionaire businessman Mohamed Mansour.
£1 MILLION from hedge fund founder Alan Howard.
Millions over the years from hedge fund figures, JCB interests and some of the wealthiest people in Britain.
The Liberal Democrats?
Repeated donations from Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Research using Electoral Commission data found pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, Lilly, Novartis, Sanofi and Ferring funding British politics over the years, with the Lib Dems receiving the overwhelming majority of pharmaceutical-industry party donations in that study.
But here’s my favourite bit.
Christopher Harborne, one of the “crypto billionaires” whose money is suddenly causing all this concern about democracy, previously gave the CONSERVATIVE PARTY around £1.5 MILLION in 2022.
He then gave another £1 MILLION to Boris Johnson’s private office.
Apparently that was fine.
So hedge fund money? Fine.
Pharmaceutical money? Fine.
Billionaire money? Fine.
Corporate money? Fine.
Union money? “Different.”
Even money from the SAME crypto billionaire was apparently acceptable when the Conservatives were receiving it.
But two British businessmen give Reform £36 million each and suddenly Westminster discovers that gigantic political donations might be a problem.
If you want donation limits, introduce them.
Apply them to EVERYONE.
What you cannot credibly do is spend decades accepting enormous legal donations under the rules, then suddenly decide those rules are a threat to democracy when somebody else starts beating you at your own game.
