Performance based funding is not it.

Should Mississippi keep funding underperforming universities the same way? First of all, what do you mean by underperforming? Secondly, what are the expectations for universities that are underfunded?

Staring teacher pay $43-47k. At the top of the scale with 35 years of service $62-73k. Truth be told many people teach because that’s what’s required to be an administrator. 2-3 years in the classroom and they are outta there.

Districts are trying to address their teacher vacancy issues by granting 1 year teaching licenses. The challenge is keeping those teachers. That’s why the conversation must include “retention.”
