Heartbroken that the historic SS United States will be sunk as an artificial reef after redevelopment plans could not get traction. The project to restore it as a docked attraction was the catalyst in so many parts of my life and career. (1/2)

This outcome is better than breaking the ship up for scrap, and refit plans would have made changes to the ship’s appearance and not necessarily recreated the 1950s ocean liner experience. But this still is the end of a big chapter for me, not to mention maritime history. (2/2)
