This month marks 1-year for me as an entrepreneur running Vendry full-time.
In that time we've had no shortage of challenges but also some exciting milestones like:
- Running searches for Microsoft, Spotify, Shopify and countless startups 🤝
- Generating millions of dollars of value to our agency partners 💸
- Maintaining a 5-star rating on G2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Clients churning 27% below industry average 🏃
- Hiring our first employee 👋
- Being able to pay myself a salary 💰
It has been a CRAZY year.
And that's without even mentioning we accomplished this fully bootstrapped while also welcoming our first child back in October 👶
So to take a step back and reflect on how far we've come, this week's Case Studied features Vendry and an exclusive look at what we've achieved.
I hope you enjoy and thank you to everyone for being a part of this journey:

Shocking how many agencies don't include client logos on their homepage, prominently above the fold.
It is the single biggest driver of client interest.
The number of clients that tune me out and go straight to cherry-picking logos they recognize is staggering
Pretty sure, a prospect just churned because they accidentally said "love you" instead of "lovely" at the end of the call.
Honestly, don't blame her.
A really tough pill I've learned to swallow is sometimes leads just don't want to take the meeting anymore.
Founder led sales is tough.
Every lost lead is money taken from my wallet, but the reality is trying to get someone on a call that doesn't want to talk is unproductive.
Just kicked off our 5th search for a 9-figure retailer.
In the span of 3 months, we've helped them hire a:
✅ Paid Social Agency
✅ PR Agency
✅ Retail Consulting Agency
✅ Video Campaign Agency
I'm grateful that Vendry is now this customer's first call when they need support.
For the last 3 months we've been testing a new paid channel and had our first deal close that made our entire test budget instantly profitable.
Current pipeline forecast puts the channel at a 5x ROAS on some very conservative estimates.
Time to scale 🚀
For the past 2 years, Vendry has been building a massive Case Study database to make it easier to discover great agencies and their work.
Today we are launching in Beta and would love feedback from anyone interested in giving it a try.
Comment below or DM me if interested!
A tip of the cap to @mrsharma and team!
We actually worked with @zachranen on this search to provide a few additional agency recommendations, and while I was bummed at the time that one of our partners didn't win, it's obvious now they made a great decision.
I am SO proud of the website the @SharmaBrands team launched for @David_Protein 🔥
28g protein | 150 calories | 0g sugar | 10/10 taste
Thank you to @PeterRahal, @zachranen, and the rest of the DAVID team for allowing us to play a role in this incredibly successful launch!
Twitter friends!
Do any of you know someone with experience related to regulated marketing RFPs (think Gov contracts or other more formalized process)?
Would love any intros as I'm trying to validate if this is a space Vendry can tap into or if regulations make that difficult.
I cringe thinking about how when AI notetakers first became a thing, I thought it was a person with their camera off so I'd make sure to say hi and thank them for their time, so I wasn't being rude.
I can almost guarantee, somewhere there is a beauty brand running a promo code DEMURE50 because their gen-z social media coordinator showed their boss a TikTok.
The quality of applicants on LinkedIn is rough, so I'm trying something new.
The last line of the job posting has my email and encourages candidates to send a sample of work.
So far we have 49 candidates and 1 only has emailed.
The bar to stand out is pretty low these days.
I love when our clients take vacations right after we kick off their agency search.
Imagine going away for two weeks to unwind, and you come back to a free, personalized list of agency proposals without having to do any of the work.
That is a magical experience.
I'm an idiot.
I caught an oversight that cost us thousands.
For months, we've been running ads promoting our newsletter Case Studied, using Vendry's IG account.
I put 0 effort into the IG account.
I changed the handle from Vendry to Case Studied and look what happened...
I'm going to start endorsing people on LinkedIn for "Ghosting" when they no-show for meetings or just stop replying after we do free work for them.
The bar for conducting business decently is sooooo low, and yet people seem to miss it completely.
Testing a new LP for our newsletter Case Studied, what do we think?
And before you ask, yes, those logos are real readers.
