It took 17 years to write 7 books. 5 years just plotting before the first one even came out. 7 years to write Philosopher's Stone while life fell apart around her. 10 more years to finish the rest while the whole world watched. The first book was rejected 12 times. The last book was finished in a hotel room and she left a note on a bust that said "JKR finished Deathly Hallows in this room." That's not overnight success. That's 17 years of not quitting.
