A wise person once said that you will experience climate change through a series of increasingly wild videos, until you are the one taking the video.

HELL YEAH! Activists pulled off these huge projections in NYC last night directly connecting Big Oil companies to the climate disasters they’re fueling. It’s time to #MakePollutersPay.

😳What the f*ck😳 Sometimes I can't help myself and swear. Two months ago, I thought I'd do something ridiculous and plot the Super El Niño trend of 2015 forward for Sea Surface Temperatures, see dashed lines in red (2023) and green (2024). I turns out that we are largely running above that.. 🌊🌡️📈 The effect of El Niño on the tropical Pacific Sea Surface Temperatures is clearly visible. Also see the North Pacific and Atlantic: The anomaly is running off the chart again. All this extreme ocean surface heat is about to turn into a year of shocking extreme atmospheric temperatures and (even) more extreme weather. We might be getting a first taste of the Termination Shock from terminating part of our cooling sulphur pollution, while still increasing greenhouse gases.

Unpopular prediction for 2023: Airbnb will experience a sharp decline which will lead to a shock to the housing market. People running short term rental businesses will be hard hit and forced to dump their assets.

Germany in 2015: 8% of electricity from coal. Germany in 2023: 31% of electricity from coal.
THREAD: What is going on in #Lützerath? In Germany, a small village next to a giant coal mine has advanced to become an epicenter of the global struggle for climate justice. Today the eviction of the the village has started. But this is not "just" about a single village. 1/

As a computer programmer, Aaron Swartz changed the internet forever and fiercely fought against the privatization of knowledge. The federal government persecuted him for it until his death by suicide in 2013. 🧵 1/6 therealnews.com/the-governme…
