My PhD thesis "Quantum State and Unitary Complexity" is out: cs.toronto.edu/~rosenthal/th….
Three reasons to look at it even if you're already familiar with my papers:
On the contrary: the “Key Dates” at qipconference.org/2027/, which I viewed weeks ago and planned around, does not say manuscripts must be public on arXiv by Oct. 5. Please update the webpage, as I previously requested, rather than relying on social media reminders.
New paper with Hugo Aaronson, Sathya Subramanian, Animesh Datta, @TomGur: “Quantum channel testing in average-case distance” arxiv.org/abs/2409.12566.
How many times do you need to query a blackbox quantum channel to test identity to a fixed channel? (1/5)
My coauthors and I are high on ACID distance being the right notion since we give dimension-independent upper bounds for testing some properties. (Not via blackbox reductions to state testing on the Choi state! Those aren’t always optimal.) (4/5)
Question for quantum information people: Is the following lower bound on fidelity claimed by ChatGPT accurate?

Replying to @gregrosent @eytyang
Finally thanks to Ben Rossman and @henryquantum for being great advisors!
An underrated benefit of Zoom talks is that when this happens, it's easier to inconspicuously leave the talk (or stay but divert attention elsewhere until the immediate subject changes).
