Fascinating emissions-driven earth system feedback in the global marine ecosystem reported by Taucher et al. Shifts in the Si:N supply ratio would have serious implications for phytoplankton biogeography and associated food webs..
This study led by Jan Taucher (n.o.T.) found that ocean acidification negatively affects diatoms through an Earth system feedback. This contrasts our current knowledge and sends a warning sign on how we interpret experiments. 🧵 1/9
