Canada’s new “Canadian Identity” minister @s_guilbeault just deceived Canadians saying we don’t need more pipelines because the TMX pipeline is only 40% full and peak oil will be in 2 years. The facts are that TMX, which just opened and would have been built entirely with private dollars if Ottawa hadn’t made it impossible for the original proponent to build it, is already close to capacity. Further most estimates of demand for bitumen shows it growing for several more decades and that it will be needed to replace declining U.S. conventional oil fields. This is just another example of how misleading and destructive this former environment minister was to Alberta’s and Canada’s economy and investment climate. We ask for the new environment minister @juliedabrusin to disavow his comments and commit to working with Alberta to build new pipelines to access new markets.

Also from Ian Brodie "Everything that Poilievre has been saying for the last two years is, in a sense, an excellent response to the challenge of Trump. We have to get the economy growing again." "...the energy corridor or transportation corridor, he's talking about today, is not a new idea for him and not a new idea for Canada." "This is something we should have done 10 years ago to get more goods to other markets" "We've been trying to diversify the economy away from dependence on the United States for a very long time. And for 10 years, we just took a break from that." "We can't afford that anymore." @irbrodie
Ian Brodie, this AM on CBC "The country has moved to the conservative position on all sorts of economic development issues, tax issues, energy, transportation and so forth." "But now we start to see issues like how does he let this guy Paul Chiang continue on as a candidate after he called for sort of the kidnapping and bounty on his competitor Joe Tay?" "These are sorts of things of his judgment that I think we'll see over the next four years." "We're talking about a riding Markham that has a history of foreign interference problems from Chinese diplomatic missions in Toronto. There's now a troubling history of this developing." "As the the CSIS director said, foreign interference is a low cost, high payoff strategy from some foreign governments in Canada. This has got to end." @irbrodie

One of the biggest takeaways of #ProMat2025? The power of AI data processing and robotics. For example, we were really impressed by EAIGLE Vision AI cameras, which make automated gate access a breeze by detecting and processing vehicle information in real time. #Logistics

Did you know the United States has a $53 billion trade surplus with Canada when our oil and gas is excluded? And that oil and gas is sold at a discount to U.S. refineries where over 1 million American workers triple its value by turning that oil and gas into fuel, plastics and other products that U.S. companies sell all over the world. The U.S. - Canada trade and security relationship is the definition of mutually beneficial. Let’s not damage it, nor destroy the jobs Canadian and American workers, with tariffs of any kind.
