Biden got too aggressive with SPR releases (which were in no small part to help him out at the midterms). OPEC+ has responded...

Two days ago the NYT posted an investigation into politicians trading stocks They found that 81 Democrats & 101 Republicans filed up to 3,700 trades and $100M in possible volume Many had 100% winners, with some perfectly timed Here’s examples of just how good they were

I see that, a day after Salman Rushdie has been brutally attacked, and severely injured, @khamenei_ir is still on Twitter. Which one is it, @Twitter? Will you allow freedom of speech for everyone? Or just for the leaders of murderous theocratic regimes?

I anticipate there'll be vigorous monetary policy discussions with fellow central bankers at next year's Jackson Hole conference
This is the new head of the Afghani central bank. Do you think he is long or short duration?
A thread from the Afghan central bank head. The Taliban will only have access to 0.1-0.2% of the bank's ~$9B reserves (the rest is held abroad). Will bring banking chaos, currency collapse & inflation on basic goods (on top of medieval theocratic rule).
This thread is to clarify the location of DAB (Central Bank of Afghanistan) international reserves I am writing this because I have been told Taliban are asking DAB staff about location of assets If this is true - it is clear they urgently need to add an economist on their team
I didn't think foreign buying influenced prices much until 2016-17. When Vancouver implemented a 15% foreign buyers tax in Aug 16, Toronto prices surged 29% in 9 mos. When TO did the same in Apr. 17, prices dropped 20% in 4 mos. Ratio went from 1.23 to 1.02 to 1.41 in 13 months!
Replying to @JohnPasalis
The fact is that houses over the past 15+ years have moved from being just a place to live in to a global asset and store of capital for domestic and international investors. Many governments around the world are trying to fight this trend 3/

Wow. @RobinhoodApp is a seriously dodgy company. The SEC really needs to investigate them (and their relationship with Citadel)

I'm certain of few things in life. But if there's one thing that's crystal clear, it's that the future economy will be centered around video game and bathroom product retailers ;) $GME $BBBY

Earlier today, I spoke with and accepted Minister @Bill_Morneau’s resignation. Since he was first elected and became Canada’s Finance Minister, Bill has worked tirelessly to support all Canadians and create an economy that benefits everyone.

You'd think this pandemic would cause this city to join the majority of the planet and end its ridiculous prohibition in parks and beaches. The city has entered a 2nd gilded age and issuing $300 tickets (mostly to people w/o yards) is a priority? Shame.
Leave the beer, wine and spirits at home if you’re planning a trip to a beach or park this weekend. You can receive a $300 ticket for consuming alcohol in public spaces. More info: toronto.ca/home/covid-19/cov…
