Took a little break from writing to be more present with the world around me. I was quickly reminded the world around me is a flaming nuclear shit-show, so I’m going back to hanging out with serial killers and professional assassins. Where it’s safe.

Hey, my story "Moll (After Kincaid)," published in The Disappointed Housewife @offbeatlit edited by @kevinbrennan520, was a finalist in the 2024 Best of the Net Awards

Not as happy as I am! So grateful for the opportunity—thank you for believing in me, @PaulaSMunier.

Always nice to see it in print. Thank you @MinotaurBooks for believing in me and breathing life into Porter Beck and his merry band. And so great to see @Janet_Reid mentioned here, my agent, who passed recently. #thebitterpast #shadesofmercy
I just woke up (in Sydney) to an email announcing Janet’s passing. I’m in shock. The day I got “the call” from Janet remains the best day of my writing life. She will be dearly missed by the entire literary community.
Sad news - my beloved agent @Janet_Reid has departed for the great library in the sky. Long before we worked together, her blog & @QueryShark educated me about querying, publishing & writing. She was a generous advice giver who truly listened to writers at all stages.

Great to see brilliant author Cheryl Head and listen to her speak about her latest great book TIME'S UNDOING at the Detroit Public Library.

Today, I'm trying to boost the signal of my second August Snow thriller LIVES LAID AWAY. Why? Because I still love the story and its pertinence several years after pub. "Love" maybe ain't the word. Passion, maybe? Either way, check it out and let me know, n'k?
After a 2023 riddled with writerly angst and frustration and spinning of wheels, I'm hoping 2024 goes even half as well.

Getting in here was on my #writing bucket list. Honored. (Or, now that I live in Australia, honoured.)

I swear, the next friend or loved one of mine who says my drinking has diminished my #writing skills and my ability to finish anything,
I hereby retire from writing because my 16-year-old cat just died and I can’t bring myself to update my bio, which mentions how he lives with us.

Outside of my family, there are very few folks for whom I’d take a bullet. One of those folks is Craig Clevenger. There isn’t enough room on Twitter to fully sing his praises as a writer and as a human. His first novel in forever launches today. Buy it. Trust me.

With my new job, I’ve been struggling to find time to work on my fiction. Was really upset about it until I realized something HUGE: Nobody gives a fuck if I ever publish anything ever again.
I feel so free!

While my mother was undergoing a shoulder replacement, the surgeon found a suspicious mass and removed it for biopsy. Turned out to be adenocarcinoma, but she's now in no danger. So, what I'm saying is, my mom GOT AND BEAT cancer in the same day.
INCREDIBLE.

Me when an acquaintance who has never bought/read any of my novels ask why I haven’t had a new book out in years.
