He saw the council made critical error by giving his nephew powers. He was against giving children powers because they aren't mature enough to endure the harsh reality of this world
Also the Wizard originally was from Kahndaq and fled from Kahndaq and gained powers and didn't save Kahndaq. BLACK ADAM considered this betrayal and resulted in the death of his family and people of Kahndaq.
Has Black Adam's political role been avoided since Geoff Johns' departure? The short answer is yes. However, Johns was the author who turned him into a global geopolitical force.
Geoff Johns made Adam hate the American imperialism. They controlled Kahndaq before through a puppet called Ibac II. So his quest against them when he was in the front of White house was retaliation to what they did to his country of Kahndaq.
All these deeds under one slogan "I fight for the oppressed". Even he attacked Wonder Woman and showed her how she's and U.S are hypocrites when it comes to the word "peace". Geoff Johns' Black Adam was interesting tragic anto hero.
Still my favourite page from Adam's origin in Kahndaq and it begs the question: Does the end justify the means? I think people misunderstood Black Adam from his actions here
And I think Geoff Johns is genius here he made Adam have questions:
1) Why the Wizard chose a child to do a man's Job?
2) What if we try to redeem the invaders and fail? What will happen to us?
3) What if our shared powers can't work against the barbarians?
4) Why the council of Wizards didn't interfere to save us instead of giving us powers? (And this explains why he betrayed the council later and killed them)
He saw all of these questions and took the worst scenarios and took Aman's powers and freed Kahndaq.
The sword Adam used called 'Zulfiqar'. And historically it was given to Ali ibn Abi Talib by Prophet Mohammed. I like the reference from Saladin Ahmed here
