🌬 Russia has developed AI algorithms to improve air monitoring Scientists at the Artificial Intelligence Centre of Novosibirsk State University have created adaptive algorithms that correct the readings of air quality sensors taking into account external conditions and compensate for the gradual decline in sensor accuracy. The first such station has already begun operating in the Oktyabrsky district of Novosibirsk. 💬 "The solutions make it possible to improve the accuracy of processing sensor readings and reduce the requirements for the computing equipment itself" — press service of Novosibirsk State University In the future, the devices could be placed on urban infrastructure supports, expanding the network without building pavilions. ⚛️ Russia has found a new way to observe the wave effects of the microworld Ivan Akimov, a scientist at Tomsk State University, has mathematically calculated a model of an optical instrument that will make it possible for the first time to see the real shape of an electron — the so-called "wave packet". Usually experiments record only the particles that scatter, while those that pass through the interaction region are not taken into account. The new scheme analyses how a laser beam changes as it passes through an electron. 💬 "For the first time, a theoretical foundation has been created for conducting an entirely new class of experiments in high-energy physics" — Sergei Filimonov, Tomsk State University The development could form the basis of a new generation of ultra-precise diagnostic systems. 🦞 Russia has developed a material for dentistry based on crayfish shells Scientists at Novosibirsk State Technical University and Tomsk State University have created a composite material for accelerated tissue regeneration during dental implantation. It is based on a polymer made from modified chitosan, which is obtained from crustacean shells. The biodegradable shell stimulates tissue growth and dissolves over time, while a titanium nickelide mesh maintains the required volume. 💬 "The biodegradable shell dissolves over time, which eliminates the need for an operation to remove it" — Gulsharat Baigonakova, Tomsk State University The material has already undergone preclinical trials. 🔬 A facility for studying polymers at Russian synchrotrons has been created at Moscow State University Scientists at the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University, together with foreign colleagues, have developed a compact facility that simultaneously measures the thermal properties and nanostructure of polymers. This will make it possible to use the capabilities of Russian synchrotrons, including SKIF, to create materials with specified properties. 💬 "When studying polymers, such a tool is essential, since their structure can change substantially within thousandths of a second" — Dmitry Ivanov, Moscow State University Its performance has already been tested at a synchrotron in France.
