Many youngsters were becoming independent in August, adult roe deer were rutting & the solar eclipse wasn't the only eclipse this month... male mallards had one of their own!

4:30am alarm, beautiful sunrise, torrential rain... and an otter mum with her cub, on the Water of Leith. I arrived home absolutely drenched, but mornings like this are exactly why I love wildlife photography.

Managed to get a few shots last night of the #eclipse in #Edinburgh but there was a lot of cloud around. Here are a couple of shots when there was a brief gap in the clouds at the start & also close to it's maximum. #solareclipse

July on the Water of Leith was bursting with wildlife – roe deer kids, kingfishers preparing for 2nd broods & hunting tawny owls. Then a fox makes an incredible catch I've never witnessed before 🦊 Enjoy

I spent the last week or so in tayside, moray & aviemore areas with the camera!
Overall highlight of the week was seeing the pine martens, in daylight, on Tuesday, at the Pine Marten Hide in Moray.

First dipper chick to fledge this morning - siblings still being fed in the nest!
We have apx 16 pairs of dippers on the 12.75 mile walkway section of the Water of Leith. Looking forward to seeing a lot more chicks in May!
