My latest post on how we bridge the gap between ourselves in this age of anxiety. Oh, and my own poem, ‘Common Ground’ shortlisted for the Hastings Book Festival prize! mikegould.online/post/common…

On the basis of the bit I watched, he’d have got as far as “right to” before being interrupted again. But - while I think there definitely *should* be a Jewish state, called whatever its citizens wish to call it - can a state be said to have rights? Honest question.

That's the issue though isn't it?
Nick thinking he has a gotcha here when people who aren't just after a quick soundbite know it's more complicated.

Ditto (in almost every respect), but teaching and writing were always under-rewarded in financial terms for most of us. What is depressing is how overpaid senior academics, HE managers and consultants are now, while junior staff immiserated.

The transitions between each section are incredibly smooth. It’s so good that I got completely absorbed in this arrangement and almost forgot about the original soundtrack.
Wow. Don’t always have much time for Syed but this absolutely smashes Pep & City. Totally correct on Pep’s hypocrisy, regardless of the latest revelations.

Is this a piece of your brain
What do expect to see out of a [place name] window, the Sydney opera house, herds of wildebeest...
You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and sky
It's not big enough to drown a mouse
I know nothing...
Quotable, decades later!

No Rumours totally checks out. I was 15 in ‘93 and remember FM being seen as terminally uncool 80s mum pop, anachronistic to Britpop, Mick a pompous celeb joke. I didn’t even hear Rumours till my 20s! I bet if the NME did this list now for Gen Z’s, it’d be top 10 at least
In fact you did!!
