Mariachi being Mexican in origin doesn’t make it un-American. Mexican Americans ARE American. Our culture is part of this country’s culture. Cinco de Mayo has been celebrated in the U.S. for generations while it’s hardly a thing in Mexico. The problem is you’re treating “American” as if it means “white.” Funny how You’re fine with Mexican culture when it’s been repackaged as cowboy nostalgia. COWBOY CULTURE IS MEXICAN CULTURE.
