My main feed and notifications on FB have become completely useless. They are 90% complete strangers from halfway across the world. They have become like Twitter's For You feed but with even worse content.

Ezra Klein asked Bill Gates whether normal corporate incentives are enough to handle AI risks.
Gates doesnāt mince words:
...very interesting & somewhat troubling deep dive look at AI, its potential dangers without control and its potential benefits.
Keeping AI out of the hands of people with bad intentions will be the big challenge.

I have a chapter in my book called āRepublicans are From Mars. Democrats are from Venus.ā It recounts the stark cultural differences between working with Republicans (mercenary) vs Democrats (soft as babies). And those differences have electoral consequences.

Wow: Tibet group @SFTHQ said at least one attacker had diplomatic immunity and would NOT be arrested, according to DC police. Disturbing lack of accountability will only embolden Beijing's blatant use of transnational repression.

Holy sh!t - THIS is the definitive The Zone of Interest documentary of the times we're in. Shots of Tel Aviv regular life while hidden interviewees explain exactly what they did and tell all.
This is 1000x more revelatory and world-changing than the Musk doc. Alas. #Naza
Second to last Venice screening for me is this top secret last minute Gaza doc called Naza. Let's see what it's all about... #Venezia83

Telluride Day 2.
The word of mouth for The Debut right now is absolutely insane. Most praised movie of the fall festival so far, and compared with Cannes and the others, it's right up there with La Bola Negra.

Nathan Fielder's surprise documentary YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING is an experience to behold. An Elizabeth Holmes examination that becomes a caper and then something else entirely. Its coming this year.

What the fuck did I just watch? One of the best documentaries Iāve ever seen. YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING is Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielderās unparalleled, full-access look into Elizabeth Holmesās life leading up to her imprisonment. Shocking, expansive, and revealing, depending on what you choose to believe. At 174 minutes, it never lags, but it certainly lingers, leaving behind haunting revelations and disturbing moral contradictions that Iām still trying to wrap my head around. A mesmerizing psychological excavation of truth, performance, and self-deception that will have you questioning every glance, gesture, and word and all through Fielderās dark, comedic point of view. Gorgeously photographed and edited. Completely stunned.

YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING is maybe the most hysterical, shocking, insane documentary Iāve ever seen.
Endlessly thought-provoking, itās a deep dive into Elizabeth Holmes and the nature of truth and deception, with Nathan Fielder imbedded right inside their family.
A work of genius.

Just out of āYou Can See Everything,ā the Nathan Fielder/Lance Oppenheim movie in which the filmmakers embedded with Elizabeth Holmes and her husband in the weeks before she went to prison. Fielder at the Q&A: āIām struggling to this day to understand exactly what I experienced.ā

Another firm, Patriot Polling, also appears to have conducted surveys for a Republican candidate for governor and then passed them off as public, non-partisan polls.
FiftyPlusOne will no longer use any data from TPSI or Patriot Polling, or the individuals involved with these firms

šØBreaking: This is repression, plain and simple.
HK dentist Li Ying-chi who never afraid to speak out despite HK's current repressive political climate, was sacked just three days after taking part in a protest on 7. 21, the anniversary of the Yuen Long mob attack. HR's own words: keeping her on would hurt the NGO's ties with the government. Official reason on paper? "Unsatisfactory performance." No complaints in 2 years. Not even allowed to pack her own desk.
This is how the HK government gets to civil society now ā not through arrests, but through quiet pressure on employers to cut activists off from their livelihoods.
Her response? "Now I've got nothing left to lose. See you on 8.31."
They tried to silence her. It won't work.
