FERC issued a certificate for Columbia Gulf's $413 million Pulaski Project, a 41.3-mile, 30-inch pipeline in Lincoln and Pulaski counties, Kentucky. It will move 260,000 Dth/d of firm capacity to East Kentucky Power Cooperative's John Sherman Cooper Power Station. #NatGas

FERC’s latest audit of utilities’ compliance with NERC’s Critical Infrastructure Protection standards found the use of artificial intelligence tools in CIP environments has introduced “significant efficiencies” but also “new and evolving risks” for entities to manage. ow.ly/k3uZ50ZYsA6

The Qataris have said it would take at least three years to get Ras Laffan, the world’s largest facility for natural gas and its byproduct helium, in full operation. 60 Minutes' requests for more information went unanswered, so we turned to satellite images to try to assess the extent of the damage at the facility. cbsn.ws/4BcReof

Since moving to London I’ve met so many people building really interesting stuff on open models who just run out of GPU credits halfway through. If you’re building on open models in Europe and compute is what’s holding you back, check this out. Grants, intros to VCs and hackathons with some great communities.
🤝 Paid partnership
The AI Builder Program is expanding across Europe with $10M in total support across compute grants, capital, and community programs. Are you building open models, developer tools, or applications on top of them? The program helps builders go from experimentation to scale-up through: - Compute grants for selected projects in areas such as open models, coding agents, post-training, and evals - VC connections to help turn open source projects into companies - Hackathons and demo days with communities including @AITinkerers, @techeurope_ , and @esra_robotics to build, connect, and share your work We’re kicking off the European expansion this week at #NVIDIAGTC Berlin with @NVIDIAAI, @Accel, and a network of European VCs. Building AI in Europe? Details below. 👇

Gas power plants are having a laugh... 😠 The biggest cost of the GB wind constraint isn't turning down the wind in Scotland. It's turning up the gas power plants to replace them in England. How to prevent this gaming and profiteering?
What happens when we produce too much power? Full documentary released on X

$EOSE and $FLNC brings me back to my energy bottleneck research from October last year. The market usually focuses on the part of the cycle right in front of its nose. We need batteries, so buy battery players. Now, for example, we need nuclear, so buy SMR developers. These are largely one-off builds, hardware, with a lot of manufacturing execution risk and thin margins. Whether they even survive the ramp is a question. For these kinds of investments, I want a horizontal enabler: companies supplying something essential across multiple phases of the buildout. Ideally, something those customers keep paying for once construction is finished. I think the AI buildout, especially GPUs, has made everybody think that hardware is an easy investment. But it’s not, and it never has been. Take nuclear, for example. My preference is the uranium trade and the fuel supply chain. An SMR is largely a one-off build, besides maintenance contracts, etc., but fuel demand continues throughout its operating life. Fuel can also be hard to secure. If you can reliably supply it, you’re in a strong position.
I held $EOSE from $4 to $9 before selling. Seeing this back below $2 is crazy.

China has ~40% more refined-product export quota headroom for Q4 than it shipped in Q4 2025. Over 9M tonnes of its second-batch quota remained unused in September. The key question: can recovering refinery runs turn quota into cargoes and boost product-tanker flows?

The reported suppression of a CFTC referral over suspicious oil trades deserves serious investigation. But claims that market manipulation explains why oil isn't $200 are reductive. Oil prices emerge from a complex global petroleum system—not a handful of trades, however suspicious. Don't confuse price manipulation with price formation.
Why isn't oil at $200? Because "someone" keeps dumping oil futures all night long, and the CFTC refuses to look into it. Heck, even when it's clear-cut insider trading, the CFTC has been told to "back off," and they did. bloomberg.com/news/features/…

One of PJM’s proposed solutions for managing incoming large loads was rejected by FERC on Oct. 9, with the commission saying the RTO’s Interim Resource Adequacy Service framework would place a curtailment obligation on retail ratepayers and create a compensation system that would overstep the boundary between wholesale and retail rates. FERC cited the lack of jurisdiction along with discrepancies between PJM’s transmittal letter and the proposed tariff revisions in deciding that the elements of the proposal are not just and reasonable. See what suggestions FERC issued offered in making its ruling. ow.ly/vnQV50ZX1rC

In Australia we will no doubt see similar headlines in relation to the future fund.
BP announced this morning write downs of as much as $4.5 billion linked to its failed investments in green energy (to be fully disclosed during 3Q earnings)

📈🌡️I've taken to calling it Augtober. The Twin Cities broke a record for the latest 90°F reading yesterday, ONE DAY after tying it. Think about this: 151 years (1872–2022): 2 October days at or above 90°F. Last 4 years: 4 October days at or above 90°F. Meanwhile, much of the country has been roasting for October, with national temperatures running more than 6°F above normal. All of this coming on the heels of three consecutive record warm months. What a remarkable year!

Power is the real bottleneck. Chip scarcity is real. Transformers are on backorder. Grid queues stretch for years. Bitcoin miners already spent a decade learning the hard part: show up where the electrons already are. Hyperscalers are just now reading the manual.
