Excellent article by @karenpalmeryvr comparing the very real differences between Alberta's health care system and systems in the nordic countries.
A must read. AB's implementation won't work.

Folks inside the Premier's office would have you believe these nine questions exist because "federal policy created much of the anger."
They'd have you believe telling Albertans to vote no is "tone-deaf" and that it's time to "read the room."
So let's read the room, with the facts.
These nine questions were not written in Ottawa. They were written in the Premier's office.
These are not citizen led.
On immigration levels, in 2024, our government wrote to Ottawa asking to double Alberta's provincial nominee allotment to 20,000 a year, plus 10,000 more.
We are spending $4 million of Albertans' money on ads promoting these questions, while the leadership says what a yes actually means will be decided later. I’m not comfortable with that.
Alberta's frustrations with Ottawa are starting to be addressed. We have worked hard as a province and we should be so proud and we certainly deserve to be heard. But pretending the Premier's office had nothing to do with how we got to this referendum is not listening either.
Albertans will make the call. They deserve the whole record. #ableg #cdnpoli

You said you'd campaign for Canadian unity. You did not. You sent out a propaganda flyer to promote your racist scapegoat & unconstitutional questions, but said one line about Alberta within Canada. You did not campaign for Canadian unity at all. Alberta deserves better. 🇨🇦

(Because that’s one of the best ways to stand up for Canada)
But you should.

Behind closed doors, Danielle Smith pleads with separatists to accept the results of the referendum and keep supporting her as UCP leader.
The only thing she offers is fear. Fear of an NDP government. Fear of "wokeism." Keep supporting Smith or bad things will happen.

Imagine being a man in 2026, and your big, once-in-a-generation fight is that women won’t date you, immigrants are more skilled than you, and Netflix race-swapped your favourite cartoon character. Meanwhile, a fucking world war is looming at the gates of civilisation, and you’re so scared that you start parroting the enemy’s propaganda about how “the West has fallen.”
Pathetic.

An interesting update in the separatist discussion. Mitch Sylvestre told Separation Anxiety back in March that he met with the premier before his September trip.

Regardless of your position on infill, look at the pattern with Danielle Smith and the UCP:
● Municipal elections: Give cabinet more power to remove elected councillors.
● Charter rights: Use the notwithstanding clause to remove Charter protections for individuals.
● Health procurement: their policy on procurement favours insiders with contracts and appointments.
● Political competition: Rewrite the rules to stop other parties from using “conservative” in their names.
● Jasper firefighting: They sought decision-making authority in an emergency they were not responsible for leading.
● Municipal bylaws: Give cabinet more power to override local decisions.
● School trustees: Restrict what elected boards can say about political and social issues.
● Public libraries: Impose restrictions over what books people can read.
● Calgary: Considered a jurisdictional take over following the water-main failures.
● AI Data Centers: Push development while skipping consultation with residents.
They demand respect for Alberta’s jurisdiction while overriding the authority of others. More power for thee.
They treat disagreement as defiance, criticism as an attack, and independent institutions as obstacles.
That is an increasingly authoritarian approach to government.
If you can’t work with anyone you do not control, you have a leadership problem.

Ukraine just hit another Yandex data center inside Russia, and Cloudflare data shows automated traffic coming from Yandex’s network has collapsed to roughly 0.4% of its recent peak.
For some perspective, researchers have previously estimated that bots generated roughly 21–29% of U.S. Twitter content.
With the U.S. midterms just weeks away, the timing is pretty interesting.
