Dear Ole Miss, I owe you an apology. After my previous open hate letter, I realize I may have been… slightly emotional. In my defense, I was operating under extreme circumstances. Am I mature enough to admit ole Miss played a good game? NO. Am I mature enough for good sportsmanship? NO. Am I mature enough to accept the loss? ALSO NO. Have I spent the past 3 days in bed? 🛌 Yes. I was not sleeping. I was not recovering. I was grieving. —Processing. 😭😢 And I want everyone to understand that I did not simply “take the loss hard.” I entered a three-day acceptance recovery protocol. There were stages. Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Silence. Staring at the ceiling. Staring at the wall. Staring into the refrigerator. There was wine. 🍷 There was vodka. 🍸 As soon as I remembered, I drank more. I needed to block the event from my mind. Forever. At one point, I may have ate something. I have replayed the game in my head approximately 4,753 times. I have questioned my judgment. I have questioned the coaching staff. I have questioned football 🏈 itself. I have questioned God Himself. And then, somewhere around day 2, I started questioning Mr. Kiffin. Because let’s be honest. How do we even know Mr. Kiffin didn't let ole Pete have this one? I’m not saying he did. I’m not sayin he didn’t. I’m just saying…..I DON’T KNOW. Anything is possible. I have been in bed 🛌 for 3 days grieving with nothing but time to think and emotionally digest. And I have questions. Lane knows Pete. Pete knows Lane. People talk. Phones exist. Texts happen. And I am not accusing anyone of anything….. I’m just sayin. It’d definitely make sense. Because when you have been horizontal for 72 hours, eventually the line between “football analysis” and “completely fabricated conspiracy theory” becomes very thin. Non-existent almost. And frankly, I crossed that thin emotionally unstable nonexistent line sometime late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. And, now I have accepted that I may never know what really happened. Maybe LSU lost. Maybe Ole Miss won. Maybe ole Pete knows Marie Laveau’s phone number…… Who knows? I certainly don't. Nonetheless, I have decided to forgive Ole Miss. (not completely- let’s not get carried away here…) But enough to acknowledge: Ole Miss maybe won that game. (or, Mr Kiffin let Pete win) Congratulations. Ole Miss, I am sorry. I am sorry for calling your Grove “just trees.”🌳 🌴 I am sorry for questioning the cultural significance of your $17 bourbon.🥃 I am sorry for making fun of your powder-blue blazers. (and your sockless loafers) I am sorry for suggesting Hotty Toddy sounds more like 40% off a seasonal door wreath at Hobby Lobby rather than a battle cry. Actually…… I am not sorry about that one. I've had 3 additional days to think about it….. It still needs work. I have tried to find the intimidation. I spent 3 days searching for it. I have meditated on it. And, NOTHING. You should definitely workshop that one! So, Ole Miss…… I want you to know that I am okay now. Mostly. I have accepted that you won. I have accepted that Pete got the victory. And I am choosing peace. Because healing is about letting go. And I am letting go. I am releasing the anger. I am releasing the bitterness. I am releasing the resentment.
