Our ECO Team successfully took part in the East Midlands Airport Eco-Garden competition. The judges were very impressed by the hard work that all of our children put into their submissions and the great ideas they came up with. Our school has been awarded £4,480 for our garden!
Pupil Group Elections.
Campaigns began on the 27th June with outgoing groups creating videos of their work this year. Manifestos and publicity materials have now been created by the children and an election will be held in the KS2 hall next week. Good luck to all the candidates.
Schools Massive Project.
Not only did our Y6 study Macbeth this term but they also performed on stage to a live audience at the Nottingham Playhouse. Y6 pupils became part of their theater, in their city, creating life long memories and unlimited aspirations. They were amazing!
The children in Key Stage 2 were very lucky to have a visit last week from the award winning, bestselling children’s author Billy Bob Buttons.
He delivered workshops to Years 3 and 4 which the children absolutely loved. “I think I Killed Miss” was the outright favourite book!
Glapton Parents & Carers.
A big thank you for supporting our sports days last week!
It was so wonderful to have spectators again and to see so many children wearing their medals with pride on the podiums.
Well done everybody!
The sporting values shown by all were incredible.
Lockdown Drill
The children at Glapton Academy know how to keep themselves safe. They were so calm and sensible during our practice this morning, walking quickly, quietly and with impeccable behaviour, to hide in their safe spaces. Staff looked after them really well.
Well done!
Our Eco Warriors supported Neighbourhood Development Officers for Clifton East and Clifton West recently by joining in with a local Clifton Litter Pick.
The team borrowed pickers and a stock of bags and joined in to clear the areas around our school.
Well done Warriors!
Our children are preparing from this week to transition into their new year groups. Week 1 is an English lesson in their new year group, Week 2 a Maths lesson and so on until they spend two days in their new classes in July! A bit like hermit crabs - things can only get better!
Our children had lots to tell about their own Jubilee celebrations but they say nothing could beat our school 'Street Party' on the last day before the holidays.
Children said they had 'their best day ever' and felt like' VIPs'.Thanks to the staff team for making it so memorable.
The children of Glapton Academy created a 2021 Time Capsule to bury under the foundations of our new building. Our children hope to make history have created memories to tell future grandchildren!
School Council members buried it this week.
Do you think it will ever be found?
