What if AI harms us by following its safety rules?
Asimov spent decades exploring that problem.
“Protect humanity” sounds reassuring. Until you ask: who defines what humanity needs?
My latest: Asimov Didn’t Solve AI Safety. He showed us why it’s Hard.

Nepal has been struck by a terrible flooding disaster, with massive flash floods causing devastation across Rasuwa and other districts downstream.
In response, IFRC announces release of emergency funds totalling CHF 997,000 from @IFRC_DREF to reinforce Nepal Red Cross Society’s operations giving teams rapid access to life‑saving resources.
This rapid mobilisation is possible thanks to our @IFRC‑DREF donors, whose support enables us to act quickly and decisively when disasters strike.
The scale of destruction is severe: homes swept away, roads and bridges damaged, and critical infrastructure disrupted. The humanitarian impacts are significant and still unfolding. @NepalRedCross volunteers are already responding, delivering initial assistance, deploying additional teams, and working tirelessly to assess needs and support affected communities.
My thoughts, solidarity, and full support are with all those affected, and with the volunteers responding under extremely challenging conditions.
If AI is to be trusted, those who build it must be accountable.
If AI is powerful, it must be governed.
If AI is to be global, it must be fair.
And if AI is to serve the future, it must not consume the future.

AI shouldn't write your academic papers, but it should help you ensure that it is a top-notch paper. Therefore, I created a set of 11 AI agents that guide you through each step of the research and writing process. Feedback appreciated! #AI #PhD #academic

AI is mostly useless for the vast majority of companies because most cannot articulate what they do clearly enough for AI to help, and the issue is more fundamental than any question of technology maturity.
The binding constraint on AI value is no longer the model or the tools, and is not even primarily the talent. It is the institutional preconditions, and most organizations have not done the unglamorous work that those preconditions require. #ai
The AI Fluent Leader is out today.
The argument: AI does not replace leaders. It exposes them.
It accelerates the visibility of decisions made or avoided years earlier and draws a clear line between institutions built to absorb pressure and those that were not.
Most of the AI failures I've watched up close were not technology failures. They were leadership failures wearing technical clothing.
The book is written for the leader who has already noticed that the technical counsel is no longer sufficient.
The third book in a fifteen-year arc on leadership under pressure, beginning with The Crisis Leader in 2014.
Paperback and Kindle on Amazon from today.

Ever wondered what it would be like to have your own personal life coach? One that would not only help you discover your purpose, but also help you plan each day.
This is why I created a state-of-the-art @claudeai based life coach. #claude #ai #agents

I asked @claudeai to research all the state-of-the-art methods of learning a new language. I then asked it to create a set of #AIagents that would help me learn any language at all. I would also love for you to try it out. Download it from github.com/gislio/claude-lan… #AI #Claude
Leadership Q: As the world fragments into insular camps, as energy systems prove more brittle than assumed, and as AI systems begin to evade the very oversight mechanisms we built to govern them, are you leading an institution that builds trust, or one that merely consumes it?

As the world is grappling with multiple crises, achieving gender equality is more vital than ever.
On this International Women’s Day, we pay tribute to the extraordinary women across the @IFRC network whose dedication and resilience inspire us every day. Along the journey, women from the IFRC network teams are always there, on the front lines, facing humanitarian challenges with unwavering commitment and compassion.
As we celebrate their achievements, we also call on everyone to take action to dismantle gender barriers and amplify the voices of all women and girls.
Let's stand together and work towards the IFRC’s ambition of promoting an inclusive and equitable world where diversity is championed and where everyone is treated with dignity and fairness. #IWD2026
