After Ike Turner left, the music industry practically abandoned Tina Turner.
She was a Black woman in her forties, and many thought her time was over, seeing her stuck in the old hits circuit.
But everything changed one night in January 1983 in New York. David Bowie was having dinner with his new record label before the release of his album Let's Dance . However, he announced that he already had plans for the evening: he was going to see Tina Turner in concert, and nothing would stop him. He insisted that everyone come with him.
Tina's manager, Roger Davies, received a surprise call requesting 63 places on the guest list. Tina later described this moment as her "Cinderella moment" in her book. That night, she said, was like a ball—but without Prince Charming—because it changed her life forever.
After the concert, Tina spent the night partying with Bowie, Keith Richards, and Ron Wood. They gathered around a hotel piano, singing Motown songs and drinking champagne. They even took a now-famous photo of themselves all drinking from the same bottle of Jack Daniels.
That night, Tina became a rock star, and her incredible rise was only just beginning.

This is the way. ☀️🎬🤘🏆😎♾️🎞️ @Klara_Movie #KlaraAndTheSun @TaikaWaititi 🏆☀️🏆 #MiaTharia 🧠💕 #NeverLetMeGo #Ishiguro film is stunning.
KLARA AND THE SUN is a drastic return to form for Taika Waititi. Honing back to the mixture of comedy and heart that made his earlier work shine so bright. Jenna Ortega is great as the loveably clumsy AI robot, but the real standout is Mia Tharia who anchors this whole movie. While I’m not familiar with the source material, I am familiar with Never Let Me Go and this almost feels like a spiritual successor to both the book and film of that. While I wish Taika would go back to writing his own original stories, this is a lovely family film with an interesting creative vision I can’t see anyone not having a good time with ☀️#KlaraAndTheSun #LFF2026

Something fishy in the water. Inclined to follow Neil Young off any cliff, if the ask is to be a lemming. “Blind man running through the light of the night / With an answer in his hand / Come on down to the river of sight / And you can really understand / Red lights flashing through the window in the rain / Can you hear the sirens moan? / White cane lying in a gutter in the lane / If you're walking home alone / Don't let it bring you down / It's only castles burning / Find someone who's turning / And you will come around.” - @Neilyoung 🩶♾️🤘#Digger 🩶🎬🕊️
Neil Young says Tom Cruise's "Digger" is "the best film I have ever seen."
"None of the reviews I have read describe this film adequately, in my opinion," Young wrote. "They seem to miss the overall effect and most of them are negative. This film lives in a world of art. It is its own best review. Don't read any other reviews and forget this one before you see 'Digger.' It cannot be seen as a Tom Cruise film - that would be misleading. I would describe it as a film of our times... I do not view this film as a commercial venture. Rather it is an artful film of our times. The things that are said in 'Digger' are a direct reflection of today's political and social world. The film is so full of artful expression and radical change ups, that it may be too much to take in for those expecting a commercial film like we are used to today."
