The @FanshaweCollege Multimedia-Journalism program is thriving and a waitlist seems likely. But options are dwindling as colleges make tough financial choices with fewer int'l students. @thebigstoryfpn invited me to talk about it on this episode.

2024 has been a year of significant change for me, and another key piece of the puzzle is falling into place.
It’s been eight months since I was laid off as Executive Producer at Global News Toronto.
During this time, I’ve deeply examined whether journalism will be part of my reinvention.
This pause has led me to an exciting new chapter.
Starting in September, I’ll be teaching podcasting and digital media part-time at Fanshawe College in London, the same college where I learned the craft 20 years ago.
Additionally, I’ll continue growing my own business, Simon Ostler Consulting, which focuses on media relations and media consulting.
Journalism is at a crossroads, with layoffs occurring almost weekly.
I believe that this means we need new soldiers for change in the industry very much in transition.
And while others are doing the heavy lifting for now my contribution will be helping shape some of those wanting to call this their profession.
And I can’t wait to get started! 💪
Graduation Day!!!!! 🎉
Congrats @FanshaweCollege Journalism grads. ❤️
You will blaze a trail. Keep shining. ⭐️
